Hello, I'm new here
by debbiedebbie ini left the jw's in 1990 and officially left or at least decided never to return again in 1993. i announced that i'd rather die in armageddon than live with these people.
they don't want to speak to me much anymore.. but i'm concerned because i have a 4 yr old child and i don't want to attend any church.
nothing against those who do.. but should i go for my child even though i will stare into outerspace until its over or is this a worse example than not attending at all?.

Meeting Survival Guide Games to play
by unclebruce inmeeting survival guide games we play
one doesn't grow up religiously attending '5 meetings a week' without developing a strategy for survival.
mine started at about ten years of age and gradually grew more sophisticated as the years assemblies rolled by.

The Diginty of Atheism
by SickofLies infor centuries, we have been told that without religion we are no more than egotistic animals fighting for our share, our only morality that of a pack of wolves; only religion, it is said, can elevate us to a higher spiritual level.
today, when religion is emerging as the wellspring of murderous violence around the world, assurances that christian or muslim or hindu fundamentalists are only abusing and perverting the noble spiritual messages of their creeds ring increasingly hollow.
what about restoring the dignity of atheism, one of europe's greatest legacies and perhaps our only chance for peace?.

New Orleans hurricane
by osmosis inone of the things i keep hearing about by the jws, is just how organised, efficient and selfless the borg and its flock were in immediately swooping down to no after the hurricane and doing everything possible to help the afflicted, believers and non-believers alike, without stopping for photo shoots or any such propoganda campaign.. it seems to me they want to avoid issues such as their cult-like nature, by painting themselves as saints who give their all for their fellow human -- "they're good people so don't question their faith, because that is what makes them good people".. and i've wondered, really wondered, what really happened down there... i don't believe their version of it for a minute, and figure there had to be something in it for them... maybe they only helped other witnesses or something... it just can't be the way it's being sold to me... anyone know what really happened?
this seems like an internal propoganda campaign to further convince the faithful witness that s/he is doing god's work.
a little too good to be true.

Say hello to the new guy
by osmosis ini found this web site while researching jws (my immediate family on my dad's side is jw, except for my dad, who was subjected to the programming from birth, and who seems to be caught in some strange world between the jw world and the real one).. for the most part, these are decent, kind, loving people.
the only problem is that they are jws!.
i myself am atheist, so in theory i should them to be atheist also, but i'd gladly settle for steering them into a different form of christianity.. anything but jw.

evps what do you think?
by BlackSwan of Memphis inok, i really love ghost hunters.
one of my favorite shows.
i think for me the possibility of whether or not there is something after this life is largely dependent on the prescence of god/dess or some other greater being in the universe.
