The Reason Why JWs Won't Leave The Cult Is Because They Won't Think!
by minimus inthey simply refuse to think, to reason, to ponder.
they are lazy!.
even if they might feel that something isn't right, they won't research an issue or a question.

by opusdei1972 ini phoned my sister and she told me that yesterday the two elders visited her again.
she lives in a latin country (as i do).
and as i shown before, just two weeks ago, these elders visited my sister because she is not attending the meetings.

org is dying
by lambsbottom ini don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.
i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.
the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.

John 1:1-18
by Doug Mason ini spent a couple of hours trying to work out the poetic structure of john 1:1-18. i have made my first rough draft available as a word document so that others can amend it for themselves.
the text i used is from the niv.
it will be interesting to see the poetic structures produced by analyses of other translations.. http://www.jwstudies.com/chiasms_of_john_1_vv_1_to_18.docx.

Memorial 2014: Wrong date?
by AnnOMaly inthis was meant to have nice inserted pictures and tidy hyperlinks but the forum's being glitchy today.
so unfortunately it's going to be a messy post where you're going to have to exercise your tapping fingers and click on the links to the pics to see what i'm referring to.
sorry about that.. in the article recently studied "do this in remembrance of me" (w13 12/15), there is a box on p. 23 giving the date of this year's memorial and how that date is arrived at.. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2013926.

is there any biblical event that has a universally accepted date on which it occurred?
by jeremiah18:5-10 ini'm intrigued by the whole "bible chronology" topic, but have never really dug into it because to put any of it together you need a historically reliable starting point.
this wasn't a problem as a practicing jw because you just assumed their dates were right.
i would like for someone to give me one event described in the bible that is universally established and accepted historically that i can use as a reliable starting point.

Have JWs and other Christians completely missed the point of Matthew 24:4-8?
by Island Man inmany people think those verses are suggesting that the wars, earthquakes, food shortages, etc are all a sign that the end is imminent.
however, a careful examination of the context seems to suggest that jesus was actually forewarning his followers not to draw such a conclusion from such events.
see this interesting article on the subject:.
