Any fellow humanists out there?
by Eyebrow2 ini have been reading a lot here and there the past year about humanism, etc...and i am curious who else on this board that have left jwism has gone that route?.
it took me a few years, but this is where i am at now, and i have been looking into local groups in my area (dallas, tx) that meet together.
i will probably be going in september when the next meeting is.

What do you think of Baha'i Faith?
by Eyebrow2 injust a little curious....i had gone to one of the websites i found by searching baha'i faith online.. i found a site that wrote on 9/12/01 saying:.
the destruction of the trade towers and the attack on the pentagon and its related events should be considered a terrible warning for the safety, security and salvation of humankind.. the second international baha'i council condemns the use of terrorism and violence as a means of change, but we have tried to warn the people of new york for years of these coming disasters, accurately predicting on national television the first act of terrorism against the trade towers in february of 1993. these acts of horrific destruction are only the beginning if the governments and peoples of the world do not submit to the authority of god and his messengers and their clear and evident proofs.. what is up with that???
i know nothing really about it so i figured i would pose the question on this board: is this religion a bit fanatical?

Have you re-read the bible since leaving the Kingdom Hall?
by Eyebrow2 ini always wanted to re-read the bible after i left the org; to be able to read it without having to feel like i had to apply something, or to have to read it out of obedience, etc.... well, i have always liked the new world translation, i know it isn't perfect, but i think it is better than some.
but i have always wanted to get a different modern english translation, and read that.
well, i finally picked up a new international version at wal-mart the other day...under $6, what a bargain.. started last night, and finished genesis today, and am just starting into exodous.

Are you a fan of Ayn Rand works and/or Philosophy?
by Eyebrow2 ini have done a lot of reading of rand's fiction, and have been reading a lot about her philosophy over the past several months.
i attend a local study group on her philosophy, and my family and i often attend get togethers that a local objectivist group puts on once or twice a month.. i am interested in talking with other ex witnesses that enjoy her work, and may be interested in discussing her philosophy.
i won't call myself an objectivist just yet, because i still am studying the philosophy.

Mom came to visit, tried sticking the elders on me!
by Eyebrow2 inwell, my mom came down for a visit...she was her for about 9 days.
she mostly got to spend time with my kids, since i had to work, and was away for 4 of those days (she came down at this time partly so i could go away with my husband for a short trip).. now, my mom is one of the sweetest people in the world, but a die hard jw.
there is a hall about 1/2 mile away from me, so i made sure she was able to make her meetings while she was down here.
