Don't You Hate It When A Witness Says "We Miss You At Meetings?"
by Wasanelder Once indon't you hate the hypocrisy when you run into a witness you haven't seen in over 5 years (even thought they live less than five miles away in the same town) and they say, "we miss you at the meetings?
" they can't call or stop bye to say hello, but they miss me at the meetings.
what crap.

A "possible suicide" results in no JW support
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose, wife and daughters are jehovahs witnesses, told me about situation that his oldest daughter finds abhorrent.
he said that a close friend of his daughter was found dead in a car the other day.
she was in her early 30's and had been a lifelong jw.

How many here actually still believe that there is a God??
by annalice inafter being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.

Some things really ticked me off at the meeting last night...
by wantarevolution in...aside from the snooze fest that was the "bible study", taken by a brother who was 5 minutes late - went 10 minutes over and obiously hadn't prepared shit for the meeting (this is the same brother that "encouraged" me to be 15 minutes early for all meetings to welcome people).
1) i had the no3 talk, about "christians helping the poor", no source material or anything.
i played it good, spoke about our duty to be good christians, and charitable to everyone, and how it is a conscience matter as to how we donate our money or charitable deeds.i even used a quote by mother theresa.

Sigh
by wantarevolution ini'm tired, i'm tired of feeling guilty all the time, tired of feeling manipulated into doing something that i am sure that i do not want to do anymore.. i am just back from a few days in madrid at our assembly.
despite myself i found myself enjoying some of the talks - particulary some on saturday.
but probably not the right reasons.

How do the French worldlings view the non kissy dubs?
by hamsterbait inokay - we all know that in many cultures embracing and kissing of cheeks is part of good manners - like in the english speaking world we shake hands.. i was told by a french friend that to pull away when somebody goes to kiss your cheek in a social situation is as rude as snatching your hand behind your back when offered a handshake.
(i cringe though when somebodys child whom i have never met offers each cheek in turn to be kissed in social introductions.).
i note that the kissing is more common in the south.

Did the elders in your congregation give counsel to those that were DATING? Good or bad counsel?
by BonaFide ini have heard some doozies.
some elders forbid the couple from sitting together at the meetings unless they are engaged.
i have heard that said from the platform.

What are the Major Issues with Jehovah's Witnesses?
by AllTimeJeff init's safe to say that in most instances, it appears that the catalyst for the final move away from jw's, the real start of a road toward a jw exit, is something that affected you personally, whether that was you or a loved one/family member.
we hit our personal bs level, can't take it anymore,.
then we start to examine the flaws of jw dogma.. i would suggest that most do not start a jw exit because they examine the dogma on a personal study project and find out that something isn't right.

What Was YOUR Worst Quality As A JW?
by minimus infor me it had to be that i was trained to be judgmental.
i'm naturally a person who doesn't believe everything someone says---just because they say it's true.
still, a "good elder" is supposed to be watchful of what might "contaminate" the congregation.. so, it's time to bare your soul.
