exiting the watchtower
by jacethespace inhi im new to this forum and am currently trying to exite the watchtower.for the past 12 months or more i have stopped going on the ministry.in august last year i stopped going to the meetings but depression kicked in and other symptoms and i returned to the meetings in april.i stopped going to the meetings again in july and did more research to see if this is a cult.but im having all sorts of symptoms.confusion of whats right and wrong, panic attacks when i go out, one minute i hate the watchtower the next i wonder whether this is the truth and wonder if ive been mislead by satan.i dont know who to trust and where to go from here.and none of my family was ever in the watchtower so i think they know somethings going on but they can,t understand what im going through.ive been in the watchtower since 1999 off and on, i finally got baptized in 2005 after what i thought was carefull examination of the truth.and whats worse is the elder i studied with when i came into the " truth" lives right next door to me with his wife, which plays all sorts of guilt trips on me and paranoia.

The bibles missing books
by jacethespace inthroughout the bible it constantly points to books which havent been included in the codex.for example it says "see the book of enoch" or "enoch prophesied of these..".and "see the book of jasher" as well as others.. the watchtower has always said that even though babylon the great isnt gods organization that they happened to be guided by gods holy spirit when they decided which books to cananize and which to not.. only thing is thinking about it one thing springs to mind!.
if they are written about in scripture under the israelites and under the christians of the 1st century then they were of course using these "missing books" back then anyway.. so the watchtowers stance on this is flawed.. does anyone else have anymore information on these missing books or the watchtowers info on this?.

Who really wrote the bible
by jacethespace ini was always taught when i joined jws that moses wrote all of the book of genesis.in the all scripture inspired book on page 13 verse 3 it says:.
jehovah god is the author of the bible but he inspired moses to write the book of genesis.from where did moses get the information he recorded in genesis?
some could have been recieved directly by divine revelation and some under the direction of holy spirit.. verse 5 says- there is no question as to who wrote genesis.. well yes there was, in the watchtower magazine 1959 10/1 [ could be 1/10, depending on which country your in] called -finding the truth that makes men free [ taken from the watchtower program 2004] section 15 has this to say:.

Songs that reflect the tower
by jacethespace inwhat is everyones favourite song that best describes there experience in the tower and their exit form it?.
this is mine http://http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3744443266557702508&q=pink+floyd+brick+in+the+wall&total=2005&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0.
when i heard the lyrics to this i thought it resembled my experience then when veiwing the vid i thought it definatly did.warning some of the vid might be a bit overthetop.. this is the sort of song i would love to turn up loud in the car and walk out of a meeting with the elders to.

Do not put your trust in men [ except of course the governing body]
by jacethespace inhow often did we hear in the meetings, conventions, etc, the saying - do not put your trust in men but put your trust in god.anyone putting their trust in men are foolish but anyone putting their trust in god is wise.not once did anyone point out of course that in the watchtower its impossible to put your trust in god because in order to put your trust in god you have to first put your trust in the infallible, unquestionable governing body.i think that when we were told trust in jehovah, what they really meant was trust in the watchtower org and those untouchable 12 men at the top who interprets everthing.. of course if anyone had ever pointed that out we would have got that very spooky air of silence and then totally ignored like we wasnt there.

Will the tower play there power trip on me?
by jacethespace insince i have left the watchtower i have met a really great girl [ or as the tower might put it-worldly].
the thing is i think i might be in a bit of a predicament because when i left the tower i decided on the option that i would just walk away and not send a letter of dissociation.and the local elder and his wife lives right next door to me.because of this i have still saw them and other of my tower associates and been able to speak to them and they have spoke to me.. but now i have a feeling that once i start to bring my girlfriend back to my place that my neighbour/elder will take more of an intrest in whats going on and it might lead them to dissfellowshipping me.although as far as im concerned my life is none of there buisness anymore.but im just wondering how long it will take for them to visit me and announce that they are going to df me.. anyone had any similar experiences or anything?.

jehovahs witnesses and the un relationship
by jacethespace infor years i studied the awake and watchtower literature and at times wondered to myself why [ esp in the awake] do they keep quoting the un so much when they are saying the un is satans tool.i got more curious when i read an awake main article which was practically dedicated to the un, all about the uns projects, etc.then it all made sense when i discovered that the tower had had a realtionship of some sort with the un.when i spoke to the elders they seemed non the wiser but looked into it and came back with info saying it was just a library card for the info section.which i was suspicous of,especially when the elder told me this year that " the un thing is old news anyway so why bring that up".. does anyone have any further info on this or documents?
i had heard that american congregations had been sent letters from bethel explaining this, is that true?
because as far as i know british congregations didnt recieve any letters or anything about this.. jacethespace..

The biggest scandals in your local congs
by jacethespace inwhat was the biggest scandals[or incidents] in your own congregations that got you starting to doubt whether the watchtower was what it made itself out to be?.
one the things for me was the attitude of the people in the congregation after i had took some time off meetings and then returned again.i quickly realized there was no unconditional love only conditional love.also when the watchtower had a letter read out from the platform warning us to not watch the bbc panarama documentary on the watchtowers child abuse problems.and everyone just avoided watching it and said that it was "satan"trying to use anything to get us out the "truth".

millions now living will never die [ or did they]
by jacethespace ini just cant understand why the watchtower still holds to this convention from 1933, that millions now living will never die.my nan was born in 1925 and shes in her late 80s.so who was the watchtower refering to when they said that they would never die.it coudnt have been people who were middle aged back then or older.and i cant believe they were just talking to people between the ages of 7-20 or so either that wouldnt fit the " millions " hype.yet its still refered to today in meetings and in the revelation book as a very important event.
