space.com dates Noah's flood to 2350 B.C.
by aChristian inthe watchtower society dates noah's flood to 2370 b.c.e.
they do this by following bible chronology quite closely, counting backwards from 607 b.c.e., their date for babylon's destruction of jerusalem.
however, as we know, the society's date for that event is in error.

A New Guy from Chicago with a Story to Tell
by Reborn2002 infirst of all id like to say hello to everyone on this website, and to thank and acknowledge each and every one of you for your individuality, personal experience, and in some cases, commitment to truth.. having read some of the heartfelt topics and posts here have served to be a great encouragement to me, more than some could imagine.
my name is jason, and i am a recovering ex-jw.. i guess this would be an ideal time to tell my life story as an abbreviated version, so here goes.. i was "born into, or raised" in the organization.
my grandfather was an elder for 45 years, and served as one of the very first jw in the south chicagoland suburbs.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

its a wonder it never dawned on me before, because it should have been so obvious.. we can forget about doing any more research or any more exegesis.

Just throwing something out here.....
by Flowerpetal infrom a book i'm reading by steve allen (on the bible, religion & morality):.
in times of war or other national danger, the freedom of the total population is guaranteed by immediate restrictions upon the freedom of those who are drafted for military service.
even in the freest of nations, men in uniform live under the strictest sort of totalitarian --not democratic -- rule, earn small incomes, and in almost all particulars live under precisely that sort of system that free men are supposed to abhor deeply.
