There was a DO over here in So Cal (may still be here), his last name is Howard, an older guy. I forget his first name. He was a very stern speaker . . .
I remember he made the same kissing-corpse comment. I never realized how cruel that was until I'd been away from the dubs for some time.

Hi Sandy!
I remember Howard. Black, old and grumpy. He would close the CA's with "Okay you kids, can't you just be good!" Okay, well not really...LOL. But when he talked he talked like everyone was 12 and in trouble.
But my mom loved him...everytime he saw her he'd say "pray for me sister." She loved that.
*sigh*

I thought of a couple more:
Floyd Garret
?---Bradshaw, older bald headed man, served us in about 1978 in Texas, related to the Bradshaws of Denver. Very nice guy, liked to load up his van full of kids and have a kids day on saturday. Anyone remember his name?

I think Krauser is their current, and he is okay my friends say.
We liked him. Larry Kraushaar, is the way it's spelled but pronounced Krauser, if it's the same guy. His wife, Rosalie, was pretty hardcore. They had a daughter too, Jeannette. Very sweet girl, but tended to be very anal. She was a teen when they came to our cong. She compared herself to "little Samuel" who had a life dedicated to god. Gag! Larry must have been very important because when his wife got pregnant, they put them in Portland for 6 years, and then she home schooled.
When they were at our cong., we had big snowstorm, and it was bitter cold. We all wanted to take a coffee break, but the wife wouldn't go and wanted Jeanette to stay with her and keep working the doors. She said "no, I'm going for coffee with everyone else". Her mother grudgingly got in the car too. Two weeks later they all were back with the DO because it was CA week. That particular DO, Joe Wengert, took breaks, and the Kraushaar's acted like they did too. Very funny. We saw them at the donut shop all week.

Does anybody remember Bob Link? He was a CO back in SoCal in the 60's...great guy.
Bob and Maxine Lenk. I knew him most of my life. He and his wife were very good friends of my parents. They were in the first congregation we went to in 1950, and then they went to Bethel and into the Circuit work.
My brother called him Bob O'Link (the bird) and was chastised for it. I would say they were really good people. Both have passed on now.
My stepfather was a CO in Missouri in the 40's. I suppose no one is old enough to remember him. Henry Zinser, second class of Gilead, Branch overseer in The Netherlands after WW2. He was one of the good guys too. Died in 2001 at age 84.

I remember Kraushaar from years ago...maybe 35 or so. And I think I do remember a girl. There was another couple who took their daughter in the circuit work, unless I am confusing the two. This was So Cal in the seventies.
My JW friends say he is quite loving and brings a positive feeling to the meetings.
Like I said, I don't think this area gets any brothers younger than 70 years.
Does anyone remember the CO that had affairs all over the circuit in the late 40's or early 50's, (before my time), and was DF'd. Then he had kids and in time was reappointed to CO maybe in the 90's. Jack something I think.
I was going to say we had Br Kite give a talk sometime before I left. I think he was interesting, old school, but interesting.

Tom and Marion Chin - She was a friend since childhood. Tom seemed like a nice guy, but I have no idea how they were as COs.
Walden and MaryLou Chin - Also knew from childhood. I'll bet he was a real dickhead. Arrogant company man.
Hey Seeker - you must have been in the same circuit as me. Which Chin was the little Asian guy? People say it was Tom, but On Waldon's Pond, seems more familiar to me. I just remember the little Asian fellow being a true A-hole. He was a nasty guy to all the women, constantly telling us to put more effort into everything from service to our appearance. One time during on of the grand pioneer mtgs (you know the one that combines all the congos in the circuit) there was a chick whose car broke down (maybe cause she was a dirt poor pioneer) and she walked in late and he stopped his speech and stared at her and finally said "thanks for deciding to grace us with your presence".
Isn't Mendehall the one whose wife was older than him??? There were Mendenhalls in my old circuit as well, you must have been in the same one as me. I just remember the guy who was younger than his wife. I think she was prematurely gray and was "sick" all the time. The CO husband seemed like a frick'n idiot and I was pretty young then, so who knows, but that is my only memory of that couple.

I guess I am like quentin- I have deep-sixed the names of all the CO's I had in 16 years. I thought I might come across a name I would recognize, but no such luck so far.
