I wasn't going to comment on this thread (still a little paranoid), but since Gary Wells name was mentioned, I simply had to. I'm not suprised that he's a DO now, guess he's working is way up. I had him when he was a CO and he's probably the most pompous individual I've ever run across ANYWHERE. He really thought quite a bit of himself. I understand the society was using him as a "troubleshooter" CO. They allegedly would send him into areas that needed to be "shaken up". Most of the elders hated the way he dealt with them and the rest of the congregation. I was a MS at the time and got reamed for something I didn't even do. I couldn't get in a word and at the end of the "meeting" I offered to resign. He yelled at me about that too. Afterward, the elder who was in the meeting apologized and the rest of the BOE was extra nice to me and vented about what a jerk Wells was. That was my first taste of how uncaring and unreasonable some in authority could be. It shook my faith in the organization for awhile but I chalked it up to him being a bad apple.

His comment about kissing a corpse is a glimpse into his hard core personality. He'd make a great addition to the GB.

    The ones I remember were:

Schroeder: I thought he was cool. Ex- auto mechanic, very down to earth.

Beada(sp?): No personality, and seemed very disinterested with the circuit work anyway.

Angelocos: - Cleaned house in our congregation. No personality, and somewhat unfriendly, actually.

    Hawkins: Psychopath.

    Paine: Name says it all.

Humor: Name says it all. I liked him.

One other that I can picture, but the name escapes me nice man, but goofy. Wife was a MAJOR bitch though...

Gene and Heidi Brown - impressions?

"Tubby" Coleman, wife Ruth. Overbearing and loud. In get togethers with elders he loved to repeat and hear JC cases involving sex. Wanted all the sticky details.

    W. S. 'Dub' Hartley, son in law of Tubby. Wife, Margaret. Anyone remember them? impressions?

Leonard Duane Bell - Big, jolly guy you couldn't help but like. His wife holed up in their trailer a lot (booze? depression? maybe poor health). I'll never forget a rehearsal for an circuit assembly program. About a dozen Bros and sisters clustered on the front row of the KH. The platform had a little wrought iron fence across the front. Leonard would lean over and rest his arms on it when speaking to the person on the stage, his back to the group. He had a habit of flexing and relaxing his big butt cheeks, left, right, left, right...some of the sisters got so tickled they had to get up and go to the back. Wonder if he stayed in....?

Sam Friend - Taught the TM school for elders

and way back in the stone age...

    Borchart

    Cecil Peace

This is a fun thread...good idea.

Hi Abbagail! Nice to meet you!

We had Dave Thomas as a CO his first congo after leaving the DO work. My ex-hall is in a desirable area where it seems they send all the elderly CO's. I can't say that I blame them; usually they have spent years in the traveling work and are tired and grumpy.

Dave told us that they had reached a time in their lives where they wanted and needed more personal relationships that you get in the CO work, rather than being so removed in the DO work. I think they came to us mid 1990's. During their time in our area they were very honest, well as honest as they could be, about problems at HQ, and difficulties with being in full time work and being unprepared for life since the "end" had not come. They were very social, and real. One time I remember organizing a big meal after the memorial at a local restaurant. Pretty soon it was probably 45 people, and they ended up coming. We had an upstairs private room and they stayed long after the group had gone as we talked about life over several glasses of wine.

I think they do realize what we all realize...they seem that type. But what are their choices? He could very well run a company or do well in business, but he has no credentials, and is up there in years. They are at least being cared for by the WTBS, as in they haven't been kicked to the curb as some have been. They live in a WTBS owned place behind the local KH. (Okay...that was another story...another elder and wife lived at this place and put in tons of refurbishments. The WTBS kicked them out to put the Thomas's in there. There were bad blood/feelings..very unfortunate.)

Lyle Ruesch was our DO for a term or two. Old...grumpy, lots of guilt in the closing remarks.

Simcox...i remember very straight...non flashy Mormon missionary type.

I think Krauser is their current, and he is okay my friends say. Like I said, they send all the old ones here for a break...not much drama/problems and nice weather. My opinion.

And STILL...no RAZOR stories???? I can't believe it. He WAS a nightmare.

Alonzo Hawkins. I had him like one time before he left. Some people loved him. I thought he was nuts. He was black preacher style with control issues. I just remember him yelling at people sitting in the back. So some obedient nutso pubs were scared of him and rused to fill the front rows.

I thought he was crazy...nobody needed to tell anybody how to sit in a meeting for crissakes. Just nuts.

I remember during one of his talks, the attendants were bringing in chairs from downstairs, as we did not have enough for all in attendance. In the middle of the talk, he pauses, and hollars out to the attendants,"DONT YOU DARE BE DOING THAT, (moving chairs), DURING MY TALK!!. Like I said, psychopath...

    Hi guys,

I had to comment on this one, so I finally registered.

I can only remember a couple names. One was Prince and the other was Dieter Marone.

Prince's talks were torture to endure. One sentence comment, scripture to back it up, one sentence comment, scripture to back it up. Over and over. Horrible.

Dieter Marone - little german guy. I didnt like him because he was so arrogant. One time after a meeting he cornered me and asked me if I was having a hard time because my older brother was a CO and my sister a missionary. Cocky little 12 year old prick I was, I told him that I figured that they were doing more than enough and I should be able to get into the new system just from their extras. He went silent and walked away. I couldn't believe I had said that.

That same CO came over to our house for dinner. While we were eating I brought up a story that my sister the missionary told me. It was how everytime missionarys from different places got together the conversation always ended up on the topic of diarrhea.

At that point he pushed his plate away and told his wife they had to leave. I was embarrassed at the time I had said that but now I'm glad I had.
