One of the factors that led to my break from the org was the way the elders were often treated by the C.O.'s. It was so clear from this that it was not a loving, Christlike organization. More of a business.

"Andrew Cole was DF'd while serving our circuit." Expand on that... S4

Wow, in order from recent times:

    Bradley: a jerky little redneck

Tomiyasu: sounded just like Sulu on Star Trek

Gene Brown: a custodian type, non-controversial

Jack Thomas: hands down, the most corrupt witness I have ever known; took money consistently and rewarded his donors. Told the congregation after one daytext about husbands not abusing their wives: Now this doesn't mean you should run to the elders if your husband slaps you up.
He warned us on the first Saturday in service that condoms won't allow you to safely misbehave because condoms protect on "particles" down to .5 microns, and the semen of some men, HISPANIC in particular, are .2 microns. I am serious. Used the word sphincter in an EMS meeting, explaining that he had just learned what it was. I could go on all day about this cracker.

Wayne Falkowski: the nicest and most encouraging CO I ever had.

    John Kuss: was he gay?

Gene Brandt: a joyless buzzkill of a CO; we got lectured severely about our little talent show; anybody seen the tapes??

When I think about CO's, I remember being shocked by what I heard from an elder who I really liked and respected: he said ALL CO's make us happy, some when the come and some when they leave.

I have a string of CO's from the 70's and 60's; Don Friend was one I really liked, but I think he misunderstood the financial support I used to give him; he kept trying to get me appointed when I didn't want it.
Jim Vig, WAY back there, was so much fun.
And Gary West, a guy as nice as his wife was prickly.

I won't name names but my favorite had to be the one who taught me the 30 second presentation that say me from about age 10 to the time I left the borg. "The reason I'm call is to share this article <read title> what do you think <god's kingdom will...> I'd love to leave it with you if you're interested in reading it". It was idiot proof and worked with any offer even if you hadn't read it. I loved him for that he also had interesting stories I remember. There was another guy that used to show slides. Most of the rest were either stuffy and strict or they had that fake nice you get from upper management in organizations.

Junction Guy mentioned Ron Soliday and that jogged my memory. I'll add him to my previous list that I posted. Isn't he the one who always said "shalom?" He had jewish heritage I think! I remember him as a nice guy and one of the better ones.

There was one CO that I had (probably the last one before I walked out of my original KH) about 1995 or so. Can't remember his name but he was about 70 at the time....in pretty good physical condition and married to a much younger red head. She was about 25 years younger than him and a complete whiner who always had some illness and they were always cancelling appointments because of her. One bro took a day off work just to be in the company of this jerk CO and the CO never showed up for the FS arraingement because his wife had a fart stuck once again. This guy had a twin brother who was in charge of the missionary work in Mexico and was in one of the yearbooks. If anyone can jog my memory as to his name, I'd appreciate it.

Someone mentioned the many who had dietary restrictions. Boy, do I remember those! Can't eat this or that. I think it was mostly an excuse to not have to go to the friends homes for dinner. Some of them did isolate themselves! Then there was this one CO who's wife had to have special herbal supplements because of health issues. This was before the cong. had to pay their medical insurances. It seemed that every time they were at our KH there was a bill at the end of the week for a tidy sum of money $$$$$$$$$$ for the herbs that she had to take. Now for those of you who take herbal supplements, wouldn't you like someone else paying a couple hundred bucks each month for what you want to take? Talk about a rip-off!

There was a nice fellow that served our circuit just one or two visits as I recall - filling in for some changes or something.

Howard Swartz was his name I believe. Tall, salt and pepper hair in the 70's. Some one said he died while giving a talk or something. Anyone know?

Gary Wells was the DO at the last circuit assembly I attended. He was instrumental in my decision never to attend another assembly/convention/or meeting.

I wonder if the 'style' of CO's is changing due to things like this? The organization can ill afford to lose people because the society 'appoints' assholes. They are bleeding to fast now.

I'll second that Pistoff. But then he hadn't been a CO for long when I met him. I wonder how is now 20 years later.

He gave a talk wherein he said that JWs married to non-JWs were kissing a corpse.

0-M-G. That makes my skin crawl. How could someone possibly say that I not get booted?

I have a hard time remembering names, but I remember the experiences. There was the short Italian man and his blond wife who liked the fine life and lived it thanks to certain congregations in our curcuit. I remember it vividly. Before he came to our area, there was a fair representation of speakers at the C.A/S.A.D's. Then within 6 months of him arriving the three richest congregations had most of the parts and most noted was that the really rich elders, who had never been given parts before (presumably because they were busy on their cell phones during most of the assemblies) giving the parts. It was so transparent it was vomitous! They were in field service w/my husband and I when they first got here and complained about how the poor, rural congregations didn't know how to take care of them and it was so hard (wahhh).

The last CO I remember from that area, it was their first curcuit and they were idealists. They had fresh, altruistic attitudes and believed in doing the right thing when we met them as the second congreation they'd ever served. My husband and I both believed that wouldn't last. Sure enough, two years later they were just as corrupted and swayed by their power as the rest. I just don't get it. How can my husband not remember all this? How can he still believe in this?

I remember Sugar and Tiger (the Powers). They were beautiful souls. They encompassed all I wanted in a marriage. I was a young girl, but still remember their gentle spirits.

There was this really fat CO was so mean and dripping with criticism and cynicism. He scared me as a new pioneer. I remember dreading going to the pioneer meeting because he liked to tear into everyone personally. Now looking back, I think he was bitter because he couldn't see his grandchildren very often. Very sad.

Hi, My first post, so not sure if I'm doing this right! I recall TERRY & MARION DRAPER (S.Wales during the 70s). Also, ED & PAULINE KERR.
