Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum
by Amazing insometime in late 1969 to 1970, the number one hit song "spirit in the sky" by norman greenbaum was interesting to me.
don garloff, jr., the jw man who brought me into the religion lived next to norman greenbaum ... don told me that norman based part of his song about going to heaven to meet the "spirit in the sky" as a rebuttal to the jw belief system of living on earth forever.
norman greenbaum at that time lived in the rural areas near petaluma, california ... i was listening to the radio a while ago and heard this song again, and thought that this might be an interesting bit of trivia.

"Work that will be completed in our 20th c...
by 67mustang ini read an article about a 1989 watchtower that stated the preaching work would be completed in our 20th century, but was revised in the bound volume to say "in our day".
i told my brother this and he said, "if it's on the net about jw's it's a lie".
i want to prove to him it was a fact.

Voyeur gets women to bare breasts for satellite
by ashitaka invoyeur gets women to bare breasts for satellite .
(filed: 28/06/2002) .
four women have contacted police after being persuaded to stand topless in their windows or balconies so that a satellite could give them a mammogram.. the women, aged between 19 and 45, living in the algarve, southern portugal, were all contacted by telephone by a woman claiming to be a doctor.. she told them that a revolutionary method had been developed of conducting breast examinations by satellite.. they were told that the consultation would be free if they followed instructions by stripping to the waist and standing in view of the satellite.. one woman was so trusting that she took off all her clothes for the "examination".. later, the women were telephoned with the alleged results of the examinations.

Does Disfellowshipping violate the Constitution?
by YoursChelbie inmaybe this is just my observation but.... with the exception of crimal offenses, is not disfellowshiping by the wts unconstitutional?
at the very least they violate the right to freedom of speech.
(i know about the separation of church and state...).

Tyranny of the Minority
by Oroborus21 inyesterday, a u.s. ninth circuit court of appeals decision ruled that the recitation of the pledge of allegiance is unconstitutional.
in summary, an atheist michael a. newdow, on behalf of his schoolage daughter, challenged the constitutionality of the pledge because it contains the words "under god".
this decision was the wrong one.
