It doesn't seem like 5 years....
by Open mind in...but 5 years ago today, i made my first post here on jwn.. .
i was an elder, had a true-believing jw wife and our unbaptized publisher children were beginning to feel pressure from other jws to take the plunge.. .
amazing how much can happen in 5 trips around the sun.. .

You've only got a few seconds...
by Qcmbr init's a convention, for some reason you are now up on stage with the mic, the auditorium falls silent awaiting your inspirational thoughts, no one knows you no longer believe, amidst the crowd are many close friends and direct family.
you will never, ever get another chance like this, this is a life changing opportunity.
you will have maybe 10 seconds before they cut the mike.

Another case of JW shunning - these people have no respect!
by Robert7 inas a quick background, only my mother and my mil are jw's.
my wife and i are inactive, but not df'd or da'd.
my mil (who has been great to us and treats us normally) has recently told me that "jws don't shun".

The (study) WT November 2011 Makes Me Puke !
by Hairyhegoat inthis study edition is an absolute attack on kids going to higher education, and you all are getting too cosy at home with your sky tv and the internet, get out on the doors you idle dogs.. oh and if you have a good job already you could not be putting the kingdum first !.
here is some of the crap in the mag, and the article temporary residents in a wicked world.. 10. .
in view of the imminent end of the present system of things, as jehovahs servants.

Ex-Witnesses in Ireland...
by jdhf inhey there....i've been noticing that there are quite a few support groups in other countries for those who leave the 'truth'.
i am appealing to those who are in the emerald isle to see if there is any chance we can get together and enjoy 'real' association, being of same minds etc.
anyway... i will put this out there and hopefully those in ireland will get in touch and we can support each other!

Is it possible to completely forget the JW experience.
by mankkeli ini am wondering if it is possible to completely forget our jw experience after a long time, and live life as if we have never been one.
no memories, no bitterness, no meeting up with ex-members, nothing connected to the jws in our feelings.. is this ever possible, could it ever happen, and how long possibly..

Went to my first meeting today anonymously!
by TimothyT inhi everyone.. jack and i decided we would go to his local kingdom hall this morning.
although i have no interest anymore in being a jw, i think its still nice to have regular bible discussions, etc, which can give you something spiritual to think about each week.
i love it and i think its damn good for you.. today, jack and i walked in, a little nervous, but were greeted and welcomed like friends.

Do most JW's belive their own private version of the religon?
by highdose intrying to work with jw's and their cd i notice that the harder i push their beliefs the more likely they are to hit back with some werid version of jw belives that exsists only in their own head.. its almost like they listen to the bs from the platform, run it through their head and then process it through their own filter and end up with a bastardised version of "the truth" that they feel comfortable with.. .
anyone else encountered this?
and whats your theory about it?.

Lurking JW's & Newbies - WT Society's Definition of "Generation" is False
by flipper inof course this comes as no surprise to those of us on this board- naturally, as we've informed ourselves.
however i felt it important to reveal the real dictionary definition of the word " generation " for newly exiting jehovah's witnesses so they can see for themselves how the wt society is twisting the real definition of this word to extend their faulty predictions of jesus prophecy about " this generation will by no means pass away.
so here is the actual definition of the word " generation " according to webster's newworld dictionary - .

Education and dumbing down
by WildeLover ini have a theory that the denigrating of education that continues to occur at assembles.
convention etc is a subtle means the wbts use to keep the members "dumbed down" so they wont develop and think to ask questions?.
i just feel after my time doing a degree and a masters that this is the case- feel more enlightened culturally and mentally and can see a lot of the narrow-mindedness of the other jws.. .
