Did you start out as a "Reformer"?
by lepermessiah inhow many of you started out down this road as someone who knew there were lots of problems and holes in the doctrine of the religion but wanted to be "part of the solution" as what i would call a "reformer"?.
for a long time, i wanted to be an outstanding elder since i thought so many of them were @$$holes, but i found out after a while the majority of the good ones are chewed up and spitten out in the organization.the others who start out with the right motives either fall in line or get run over.. unfortunately, i kept that delusion up for many years - and just about killed myself doing it.
thats when the light went on and i finally figured out why i was so miserable doing it - it was all for naught - you cant change it.

I Have a Question
by Farkel inwhen i was a braindead dubbie we used to say "there are no jehovah's witnesses in prison.
" of course, that was true, but once again as jws are so fond of doing, it was also a lie by omission of fact.
as soon as a criminal jehovah's witness was convicted, he was disfellowshipped.

Did Jesus have a haidresser ?
by edmond dantes ini coudn't help but notice in a recent watchtower ( february i think it was).
jesus was pointing the way to some one with two fingers ,not to somebody who had two fingers but pointing the way with two fingers.
just one finger might have give the wrong impression.. the point is jesus had what can only be described as this fabulous head of hair .i mean it was like wow because your worth it !

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

How many of you were baptised at a young age?
by lepermessiah inone thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

The Barbara Anderson Appreciation Thread
by Quillsky inthere are many newcomers who may see references on this website to barbara anderson but not understand the complete awesomeness of what she has done, and continues to do, in the pursuit of truth.. for those who don't know, a brief summary: barbara and her husband joe spent most of their lifetime being uber-witnesses, bringing 80 or so people into the organization and ending up at brooklyn bethel.
barbara landed up in the sacred heart of bethel, the writing department, and wrote awake!
articles.
