Common sense tells me that if as long as she has been imagined, her worship has served as a foundation for wars and oppression, then her worship has nothing to do with an actual application of grace, vision, and courage for humanity. Now answer some of the hard questions that you are avoiding. It does not depend on the context. It depends on the content. Context is a meaning that we generate. There is no context in the universe. Killing or capturing (catching) animals for food is a little bit different from animal sacrifices.

Eg certain heavy metal rockers sacrificed animals to the devil to improve their performance. They would cut off the goat's head, drink the blood and include the drugs.

Again, you avoid the issue. Stop cowering away. Is it good and right to sacrifice animals or not? If it is immoral, then you god is immoral. If it is not, then don't condemn others who do it. If it depends, then admit that you have no real morals other than obedience to the whim of your deity. I hold you as exactly the same as those "heavy metal rockers" if you support animal sacrifice.

The one way you can salvage your humanity is to admit: The bible reflects a great deal of ancient myths and practices, reflecting primitive culture. We should learn what value we can from it, but as a perfect moral guide it falls short. Therefore, let us evaluate the assertions of the bible as we would evaluate any other claim about the way things should be.

And, no, the animal sacrifice was not done away with when and if he came. It was done away with by the Pauline sect in competing with James and Peter, Paul being the one who wanted to do away with many of the Jewish traditions so that christers could grow in number among the Roman world where people liked to eat differently and not have parts of their genitals mutilated.
