Here is a list of the 10 commandments.

1. You shall not worship any other god but YAHWAH.

2. You shall not make a graven image and worship or serve it. (idols)

3. You shall not take the name Lord God in vain. (JESUS, YAHWAH)

4. You shall not break the Sabbath. (You should keep it holy)

5. You shall not dishonor your parents.

6. You shall not murder. (kill)

7. You shall not commit adultery

8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not commit perjury. (lie or bear false witness)

10. You shall not covet. (be envious, jealous, long for anything that belong to others) Would the world be a better place if ALL followed theses commandments? OF COURSE IT WOULD! I could go on a very long sermon about this but i feel any rational thinking person would agree that the world could use more people who follow those commands.

You know from following the thread that I strongly disagree. Do you care to engage this issue more deeply? Do have any concrete evidence to back up your strong assertion of "Of course it would." Some questions to consider would be: What is a better/best world? Is that definition true even if the god of the bible does not exist? What is the best world possible that theists/atheists could unite to create right now? Would the 10 commandments really provide access to that? Since many of the commands are sweeping, how would you decide what to include or disclude from large issues such as: killing, adultery, theft, etc.? While some of these commands are common sense social issues, many of them, as I've already asserted, simply buttress class oppression and status while allowing for great abuses from authority to go uncontested.
