    willy:

Love is indeed the greatest commandment of all.

What is love? What comes with it?

QUESTION: Shouldn't we emphasize love for Jesus Christ rather than squabbling over Bible translations?

ANSWER: There is no better way to emphasize our love for Jesus Christ than to jealously and zealously guard His word.

EXPLANATION: You can show your "love" for the Lord Jesus Christ in two ways.
    1. Any method that YOU deem as sincere and valid in your own sight. (See Lev. 10: 1-3)
    2. You can endeavor to keep Christ's Scriptural admonitions as strictly as possible. (This tends to be a lifetime endeavor.)

Aren't there 327 million Buddhists worldwide (313,114,000 in Asia) here in Hawaii the major Japanese, Korean population are Some type of Buddhist? There are numerous offshoots but their are two major branches. For us to understand and use the gospel to penetrate this religion don't we need to know what they teach about the Buddha and use the stories as possibly bridges to reach them? In my opinion of all religions this is one of the hardest to reach and understand, since Buddhism can be cultural, it is a lifestyle of many generations as well as a spiritual practice.

For centuries, Buddhism has been the dominant religion of the Eastern world and still remains the predominant religion in China, Japan, Korea, as well as southeast Asia. In Japan alone there are approximately 200 sects. This makes it difficult to address this religion as a whole since it can be so diversified.

My intention was not to throw this down your throat sir force. I was only letting you know what I learnt.

Isn't it funny when bad things happen or when certain things happen people have a habit of saying "Jesus Christ!" or "God have mercy"! or "Oh God!" or "Oh Lord!" Is it that we are asking God for help on this desperate occasion? Hibiscusfire I'd attribute that to socially constructed linguistics. You know, people inherit things from the past weather they are relevant or not. Like the trinity, virgin birth, flood story, creation mythology, etc. And while I'm on the soap box, I might as well add in addition to Funkyderik that the one exception to "what does a profanity really mean" when I say "Awwww F$#K," it really does mean that I'd probably rather be having sex than doing whatever it is I'm doing. And lastly, I'd add that call as they might, he has never answered in a way that is objectively distinguishable from his not existing at all.

I don't think that's likely. There are few people here with the severely limited mental capacity and lack of education needed to fall for such shoddy arguments.

Funky: No, no more than when we say "Oh, shit!" w e're asking a giant turd for help. Well that is also what God meant by using His name in vain. People do not realise what they are doing sometimes. I used to do it before until I understood what that meant: "Thou shalt not use the Lord Thy God in vain" HF

I am not trying to convert anyone.

This is the Word of God that's all. This is part of His message to the world.

When Jesus was on the earth He talked about love. Loving your neighbour. (a very hard thing to do)

In John 14:23 one of the identifying marks of anyone who loves Him is that they will "keep my words."
You may say, "That just means to keep the things that He said to do." BUT, the fact is that no "love" is required to keep these sayings as evidenced in John 8:51 and 52. Love is required to keep His "words."

    Hibiscus,

The thing that irkes me about you is you assume we are a godless bunch here. There are some who are christians here and some who are not. I by the way happen to be a newly baptised christian. Looking back on my conversion, if I had met someone like you at my church there is no way on the earth I would have gotten baptised. You think you are showing love here by your posts but youre really not and you get miffed that we cant see your show of love. I dont want or need your kind of love thank God.

Then you're not following what the KJV tells you Jesus said you should do. And why are you here?

This is the Word of God that's all. This is part His message to the world.

I could again disagree. But let's just take for granted that this is so. Well, your message has been delivered. Mission accomplished, now let's deal with reality.

In John 14:23 one of the identifying marks of anyone who loves Him is that they will "keep my words."

; ; You may say, "That just means to keep the things that He said to do." BUT, the fact is that no "love" is required to keep these sayings as evidenced in John 8:51 and 52. Love is required to keep His "words."

I challenge you to translate this into language that is more than mere tautologies so that we can analize this without theological shiboliths. Because from a logical standpoint, you have said

    L is a quality of set W

L is not a quality of set S

Without any meaningful connection between them, and certainly none to reality.

The Ten Commandments were the first installment of what is known as the Book of the Law, or the Book of the Covenant, or the Book of the Law of Moses.

These were spoken by God from Mount Sinai to Moses .

The people were very fearful and told Moses to hear what God had to say because they didn’t want to die. They asked him to come back speak his words to them (Exodus 20:18-19).
