    Crumpet:

the bible really is of little or no relevance to us today and that this yahweh feller was a bad guy painted good in the book, not someone I would give any credence to.

    How are you so sure?

Question: How did God preserve His words to this day?

Answer: God preserved copies of His words down through time, using four main languages He chose for that purpose. All through history, God made several choices as to the languages in which He would communicate His message.

    Question:

I know some people who basically refuse to read the KJV because they claim they don't understand it. However, they are willing to read the NIV. I feel bad recommending the NIV to them if they aren't willing to read the KJV because I do feel that the KJV is the word of God. But in a case like this, is it better to have them read the NIV over nothing at all?

    Answer:

A false Bible is not the truth. It's that simple. I am a kind and soft-hearted person. I would love to tell people it were okay to read other Bibles and just as good for them. That's my personality. But I cannot. I cannot compromise the truth and tell people that a Bible that is missing or adding or changing the truth is STILL the truth. False Bibles are not "The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth."

You make it sound as if a believer of Jesus leads a boring life? Far from it. Followers of Christ are sinners who have repented of their sins and asked God for forgiveness. They can start their life brand new and do what is pleasing to God. And those things are good things not evil.

Abhor What Is Evil; Hold Fast to What Is Good

I think you will see this truth at work if we meditate for today on the second half of Romans 12:9. The whole verse says, “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”

Now what makes good good? And what makes evil evil? In other words, how does it come about that there is such a thing as objective good and evil? Well, this verse doesn’t say. But we don’t have to look far for the answer. Verse 2....

If there were no God—if there were no Christ—then the good would be subjective, not objective. Good would be in the eye of the beholder, especially the strong beholder. Might would make right. But God does exist. And therefore might does not make right. The good and true and right and beautiful have objective foundation in God, and in his self-revelation, Jesus Christ.

    And this is Verse 2:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The reason there is such a thing as objective good is that there is such a thing as “the will of God.” Or most simply, and most profoundly, the reason there is such a thing as objective good outside ourselves is that there is God outside ourselves.

And most concretely and specifically, God has made himself known objectively and historically in Jesus Christ in Scripture.

All idols are the product of human imagination.

A made God is no God.

Would it not be possible that all Gods that the humans have are also a product of imagination.
It is clearly true for the greek pantheon of Gods (very human like). Humans project there own faults and shortcommings to the greek gods.

But imagine that in a different culture, a different religion would form. In a culture where there is a shepard and sheep, it is logic to think that this would result more in a single Almighty God. Then of course to understand some things in the world you need a wolf or a devil in this case.

What is evil? I suppose it could be described as a perversion of God's natural order.
    1) God created everything. 2) Everything created by God is good. 3) God gave creatures free will. 4) Creatures have used their free will to prevert God's natural order, which is evil.
God is not responsible for his creatures preversion of free will, but the responsibility lies upon those who perpetuate these preversions of God's natural order.

So evil can come from good. Then at least God created us with the desire and possibility to do evil. About the free will: I know this is also the teaching of the WTS. What I never did understand was, why God permitted wicketness. And also why then only for a short time. It does not really help the explanation of the WTS. What is your view on this? Just not seems rightiousness.... Danny

DB74 So if you are saying that God is allowing these things to happen to prove that man cannot rule himself you are also suggesting that God is permitting his sons and daughters to suffer evil to prove a point....what kind of loving father would do that....why did he create satan in the first place and when it was apparent that satan wouldnt or could be brought back in line why wasnt he destroyed then? and why was he sent to earth?

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW SATAN, SIN AND SUFFERING TO EXIST?

God did create a perfect environment twice, and on both occasions, the independent beings ( Satan and Man ) He created failed miserably.

THE PERFECTION AND PRIDE OF SATAN:
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. - Ezek 28:15

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. - Isa 14:13-14

God allows all these things to test and reward us for our obedience.TO PROVE US: And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. - Deut 8:2

The whole of life is a test, a trial of what is in us, so arranged by God himself.

    Evil:

Let's break it down. One of God's commandments is "Thou shalt not kill"

Would you consider this evil or good? Then tell me if that is of a perverted God.
