the new newbies need more posts....esp...of their own...
by oompa insimon and mods...i am getting pms and e-mails from our newbies...even asking me to post what they want to post.
?....cause they have blueball from having to wait so long to register here and post.....i just think that it may be a good idea to loosen rules some to let them post at least three times a day and unlimited after that.
isn't that what mods are for?....to catch anything that is a prob and kill it?...so if that provision is in place...then why the limit?.........these newbies are bustin at the seams........so why have these strict limits if we have mods?....now that last one is my question....i posted the rest for the newbies.........oomps.

Life as a Jehovah's Witness viewed as a performance
by slimboyfat ini am reading the presentation of the self in everyday life by erving goffman at the moment.
it sheds much light on the experience of 'performing' the role of being a jehovah's witnesses: how a witness will strictly adhere to watchtower standards when we are 'frontstage' with an audience either of peers or outsiders, and how they may relax those standards when they are 'backstage', not in a setting where their fidelity to the identity of 'jehovah's witness' is being scrutinized.. an interesting point it makes is that we can present our roles either with 'sincerity' if we believe in the performance as much as we would have the audience, or with 'cynicism' if we perform our role without believing in it, but expecting that the audience will.
but rather than being a neat spectrum from sincerity, through ambiguous sincerity, all the way to cynicism, goffman argues that a performer will tend to one extreme or the other: either believing utterly in the role he is presenting, or presenting it totally without conviction for the benefit of the audience only.

Coming to the Father
by wobble inthis is for the christians on the site really, but all comments are welcome.. jesus said that "no one comes to the father, except through me", my understanding of those words is that we need to ask jesus to be our saviour,to accept,or adopt, us as sons and daughters, and thus become our eternal father, and thus we become brothers and sisters of christ and hence can have a relationship with almighty god.. i may have missed something so please add or correct me,but if the above is in essence correct no jdub of the " great crowd" can have a relationship with god,as they are not christs brothers.. this leads me on to ask,if you do believe as i do (as above) what can i do about the lords evening meal,i do not feel at present that i can go to any church,i will not go to a k.h,and i am alone in my belief as to family,so have any of you celebrated it alone?
and if so isn't that really weird?.
love.

so i made the meeting today....and lived!!!!!!!
by oompa inall in all not really as bad as it could have been..........i am sooo grateful for that 30 min talk now....and though dreadful overall (if you were listening!
).....and that is the key to my success.
i am really good at totally tuning out what is being preached....i mean i could not tell you one single thing about the talk or wt study....i only even looked up one scripture and that was after the fact because i happened hear that stupid term "system of things" and i had only brought my tiny kj bible and of course it said "world"....and i kinda just smiled at how nice and simple that was.. my wt came in very handy as i was able to use it to totally hide my cell phone and was texting olin moles ghost who was doin his darndest to make me laugh (nice...thanks man) and also got to edit at least a hundred photos i had been meaning to e-mail or discard.....the only awful part was the songs, cause there is no not hearin that, and no way in hell was i gonna sing, so of course people were prob raggin on me for that.
