If you were the GB, what would you do to prevent to coming demise of JWs?
by jwfacts inthe current growth of jws no longer exceed the population growth, and in many educated countries it is now stagnant.
http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/statistics.htm in 50 years the whole 1914 thing will simply be an embarrasing irrelevance, so for the religion to even exist in 2057 will take some major doctrinal changes.. decrease is quite common for christian religions, except pentecostals, who are experiencing tremendous growth.
maybe they have jesus' blessing.

JWs and the fear of death
by greendawn inthere was a recent thread on whether the wts attracts emotionally disturbed individuals which is unlikely to be the case since so many jws do not fit that description.
later i thought perhaps the wts appeals to people that deep inside have a fear of death which is scientifically called thanatophobia (from the greek word thanatos which means death) an excessive and abnormal fear of death.
what do you think, many jws find it very difficult to come to terms with the inevitability of their (and everyone else's) death and the wts plays with this fear and makes them believe that the end of this world and immortality for the dubs are very near.

My Story
by LearningToFly inhello fellow forum members, i am very new here, and feel it is time to share a little about myself.
this site has gotten me quite riled up again, and even after many years my experience is not memorable and still upsets me when i think of it.
my beginning experience of joining the jw organization at age 6 was not unpleasant at all, and was not for many years.

would Jesus have celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on his 13th birthday?
by sosad ini hope this is not stupid question but it struck me talking to a jw friend who was agast that i love celebrating birthdays that as a faithful jew he would have.
or is this a more modern part of jewish tradition?.
from a recent thread i had some good points - notably pauls comment to not judge those that keep "special days" and she was a little taken aback by that although she said that applied to anniversaries and not birthdays.

Service is so easy now
by coaster ini just knew the gb would find a way to keep on going when the end never seems to come.
well, new light shining brightly we all recently learned that the 144k are still being selected.
no more need to "graft" new ones onto the broken branch.

All current JWs: What is this?
by AuldSoul inthe bible students in 1918 numbered very few, fewer than 6,000. within three years, the number tripled.. the "intriguing subject" they proclaimed from 1918 through 1922 was "millions now living will never die.
" upwards of 70,000 attended to hear this message proclaimed in germany alone.
the talk series had a longer title, "the world has endedmillions now living will never die.

Another example of WT coverup!!!! Proof of Deciept!!!!! And why it matters.
by Lady Liberty inmany new ones or lurkers may not know this but charles russell was not the first wt president like they teach!
who cares you may say?
well if i showed you where they acknowledged this in 1993, but as recent as 2001 they were still printing he was, would that not be valuable to you to show others the watchtowers deliberate deciept??
