Do you support gay marriage?
by chappy inis your belief moral, social or practical?
would you feel the same way if there were absolutely no religious influence on the matter pro or con?.
regardless of your belief, does every adult have a fundimental right to marry anyone of his or her choosing, regardless of gender?.

Is there anyone at Bethel who knows Greek or Hebrew?
by VM44 infred franz was known to have some knowledge of the greek and hebrew languages, and made use of that knowledge when he worked on the new world translation of the holy scriptures.
but he died in 1992. is there anyone at bethel today who has a knowledge of these biblicl languages?.
it would be strange if a religious book publishing organization turned out to have no one at all who could read the bible in its original languages.. does anyone know what people are currently on the watchtower's bible translation committee, and if they know the languages?.

One last act of separation
by jeanniebeanz inwell, i was cleaning out the last of the boxes from our move to texas and i came across my old new world translation.. i stopped and looked at it for a while, leafed through the pages to see the notes, hastily scribbled during some talk or another, little pieces of my life and world... some of the comments triggering memories of conventions, or relatives, mainly though, triggering feelings of... nothingness.. nothingness... that is what my time as a witness has boiled down to.
years of my life offered gladly to an organization that i believed would show me, and those whom i loved, the way to a better life where there would be no, "sickness, death or suffering" all meant nothing.. it used to make me mad or sad thinking about these things, but now there is just nothing.. not even when i think about my dad.
i used to get so upset at having lost him; i'd cry and hope that he'd see the light and leave the organization.

Question for JWs still on the "inside":
by Hellrider injust a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?
i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!
how do you deal with that?

Compulsion: Contributions -No, Blood, Yes!
by metatron inwhat sort of warped logic prevails amidst the elderly vultures who run the watchtower that allows them to compel.
someone's death in refusing a blood transfusion ("disassociation") but avoids compelling anyone from contributing.
money?

have elders ever been sued successfully?
by silentWatcher inquote: what i am waiting for is one of their rank and file elders to get sued over this issue and some of the hospital liaison puppets to lose everything he owns because of it.
this point was brought up in the "big news has started" thread (and is now buried on page 3).
interesting point, and i wonder if anyone has ever heard of a case where elders have been successfully sued over judicial matters (slander / libel) or wrongful death (blood)?
