Anyone Seen This
by lambsbottom inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2691254/how-jehovahs-witnesses-got-street-smart-believers-swap-infamous-doorstepping-standing-outside-train-stations-shops.html.
it's a practice that's been the butt of jokes for decades: a pair of jehovah's witnesses turning up suited and booted on your doorstep.. but the days of the 140-year-old religious order's members trudging door-to-door in the rain could soon be numbered.. thousands have switched tactics to stand on street corners in more than a dozen cities across britain - and unusually for public preachers, they are staying almost completely silent.. leaders believe it is a better tactic in modern britain, where people do not like being approached directly and prefer browsing as if in a shop.. three years after the same tactic was introduced in new york, witnesses have been standing on pavements in at least 13 cities across britain and handing out tens of thousands of magazines.. unlike other evangelical preachers, they do not shout or call attention to themselves - instead standing in near-silence until someone approaches them.. 'i guess that's just not our style,' said mark o'malley, a spokesman for the jehovah's witnesses at their london headquarters.. 'we have used inventive approaches down the years.
we used "sound cars" in the 1930s which would relay lectures in the street from megaphones on the roof.. 'radio was used a lot later on and our members wore placards and sandwich boards.

If the organization is all about money.....
by Pete Zahut inthen why would they be so insistent about dfing people ?
if it's money the watchtower org is after, it seems like they'd want to hold on to all the members they can.. how would you answer this logic?.

I don't call this progress...
by MidwichCuckoo in...where communication/information has progressed vastly, the jw r&f have, in well over 100 years, progressed from sandwich boards to..errr..modernised sandwich boards as their up-to-date means of communicating.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2691254/how-jehovahs-witnesses-got-street-smart-believers-swap-infamous-doorstepping-standing-outside-train-stations-shops.html.

RE-branding, is the WT going to be a completely new religion in a few years?
by Crazyguy inthier pushing jw.org and thiers speculation that the name watchtower is going by by.
also they may even drop the name jehovah referencing the new bible at pages 1735-37 i believe.
do you think that the names jehovah's witnesses, watchtower, are going away to be replaced by another?

Pets aren't people, says speaker at Regional Convention. Fido and Mimi better watch out! And instead of drinking wine or beer go do some gardening or play golf.
by oppostate ina big discussion driving back from the regional convention about what exactly was meant about pets.. the warning was obvious to me.
don't get pets, they cost time and money and you would do better to spend your time and money supporting the organization and going in field service.. as to the wine and beer, because the bro during his soliloquy admitted that the first thing he would like to do is relax after a hectic day at work with a glass of wine or beer, his conscience was traumatized.
however he came up with a perfect idea, he'd go tend the garden (obviously a solution for a married bro) or hit some golfballs at the driving range (maybe he's not married).. maybe jesus should have told the wine guzzlers at cana to sober up and go till the fields.. .
