I don't think Islam will be reformed any more than Jehovah's Witnesses will be reformed and they are a far far milder and benign religion.
Just like JW's, they know to promote the false party line to outsiders and the whole "I wear the burka because I want to" / "I don't want to celebrate birthdays" and "we are a religion of peace" / "we love and don't shun anyone".
It's all lies. There are good voices speaking up and telling the truth. People need to listen.

I am interested in understanding why you think your personal experience provides a better view of what Muslims in general believe than polls. Do you think it is possible to find people whose personal experience is also wildly different and provides an inaccurate picture of what the majority believe?

I'm sorry Simon, yet this needs to be addressed.
Username had valid points, points in where millions of people would agree on. Nowhere was he "promoting" something you are personally against. Was simply sharing his perspective in a non-insulting way based on legitimate findings of research. To threaten to shut him up let alone share his personal pm is uncalled for and doesn't create a safe environment for people to express their perspective.
How is it okay to run a forum where threats are made largely towards these ex-cult members who've escaped an environment that already had rules and threats enforced if a perspective was out of line with the leaders? Yet on the other hand, there are certain people here running around playing high school, labeling insulting and demeaning every chance they get yet they simply get a slap on the wrist if even that.
I've never been a JW, outside looking in, there's a whole lot of WTS residue still floating around.
