Has Anyone Ever Met Any Celebrities?
by imallgrowedup inthis is a spin-off of another thread where my *mild and chaste* friend, mouthy, admitted to wanting to meet her dream man, tom jones, and that she would even go so far as to throw her bloomers at him, if that is what it would take to get his attention!
well, the mental picture this painted was far too much for me to bear, so i encouraged her to save her red polka-dotted "unmentionables", not only because she might need them in the future, but because i didn't think she'd have to go that far to get his attention.
and i said that - because of a personal experience with him.

Watchtower Authority - Part 1
by Voice ini am curious to find out what the members of this forum have to say in support of the authority behind everything that the watchtower bible and tract society stands for.
personally, i think that the wtbts has no greater authority than the pope.

The Idea of God.
by Blueblades inthe idea of god is either a fact, like sand,or a fantasy, like santa.. the idea of god has guided or deluded more lives, changed more history, inspired more music and poetry and philosophy than anything else, real or imagined.it has made more of a difference to human life on this planet, both individually and collectively, than anything else ever has.. to see this clearly for yourself, just try this thought experiment:.
suppose no one in history had ever conceived the idea of god.now, rewrite history following that premise.the task daunts and staggers the imagination.
.from the earliest human remains----- religious funeral artifacts-----to the most recent wars in the mideast,religion----belief in a god or gods----has been the mainspring of the whole watch that is human history.. if the idea of god is a fantasy,a human invention,it is the greatest invention of all human history.. there are only two possibilities,"to be or not to be",that is the question.. blueblades

Being publicly reproved
by Strawberryfieldsforever inyears ago my husband and i were publicly reproved.
we had gone out with some "worldly friends" from work and went dancing and had a few drinks too many.
well someone must have been around to see us and told the elders.

Do you still believe in God?
by IT Support ini'm a recent departee and am now re-evaluating all my previous beliefs and there's none more fundamental.
however, i'm not sure where to start: i'm sure i don't need to say there's an enormous amount of nonsense out there.
frankly, in spite of their other stupid teachings, i am considering reviewing again the articles in wt library as i think they do try to sincerely prove the existence of god.

What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?
by minimus inone rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

generation change
by littlemike inhello this is my first topic on this forum.. i left the jws 18 months ago and am still recovering.
it was after reading crisis of conscience that i was brave enough to leave although i had serious doubts before i was always scared in case it was right!!
and i was wrong.. however when they changed the generation in 1995 that caused me great trauma as i had accepted that as absolute fact and based my life on it.
