Subtle Protests.........
by integ ini continue in my fade to make those little subtle protests when around the witnesses....you know what i mean?
doing the kind of things that have nothing to do with violating "bible standards", but are none the less frowned upon by the self righteous of dubdum.
my latest was when attending a wedding reception the other night.

friends: i have a question....
by thebeliever insince leaving the jw's, with what have you replaced your belief system?
meaning, since we know there is no armageddon, heaven, hell, etc... how do you now understand the world and your place in it?.
i personally believe in evolution, but that doesn't help with the matter of spirituality.

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

Sunday Drama at JW Convention: Not Bad, Really
by Room 215 inin the ``giving credit where credit's due" category, i must say that while curiosity drew me to spend an hour or so last sunday morning at the convention in philly, i must confess to having been pleseantly surprised by the drama.
sure there was the usual hamming it up with over-the-top histrionic gesturing and laughable synthetic beards we've come to expect; but since it stuck nearly verbatim to the events chronicled in the book of acts from pentecost through the trial and martydom of stephen it was remarkable for its christ-centricity and for the total absence of watchtower spin or any reference to ``the governing body," the "faithful and discreet slave" and ``organization.
"" except for a few spurious ``jehovahs" here and there, it might have easily been mistaken for some sort of baptist pageant.

Drug Legalization
by Euphemism inokay, well there haven't been enough heated political debates here recently, so let's start another one... j/k, mods!
seriously, if i could get intelligent replies to this thread, rather than hyperactive fulminations, that would be much preferred.. my question is, how do you feel about the decriminalization of recreational drugs?
whatever you feel about the morality of using drugs, and taking as fact that the abuse of drugs is harmful, we're currently spending billions of dollars a year in a losing war on drugs, and in the process creating a whole criminal substructure that thrives on selling smuggled goods.. so here are my suggestions.. 1. allow the sale of recreational drugs to adults, exclusively at licensed and regulated establishments (along the lines of liquor stores).. 2. require that all drugs be carefully labeled with the exact amounts of all active ingredients, as well as a comprehensive list of all inactive ingredients, just as is required of pharamaceuticals.
