  SEX: One of my favorites...oh, male

  LOCATION: Currently in my chair at the office...oh, the office is at Ft Campbell, KY

  STATUS: NEVER Been a JW, went to some meetings with my wife (actually I've been more than she has in the last year, but then again she's thinking of converting, not really a JW anymore I guess).

  In the model prayer, why wasn't God name used ?

  when jesus taught his followers how to pray why wasnt the name of god used in the model prayer.

  our father in the heavens, let your name be sancitied.

  with so many people and religions in the world how many would have known the name of god if it were used in that popular prayer.

  Venice is pretty much right on it, that and the fact that God's name is SO SACRED that to use it in everyday speech is to profane His name. Jesus would have not been received at all had he gone around using the divine name. the closest he ever comes to it is when he used the divine name for himself in John 8 when he said "Before Abraham existed, I AM. Took the Jews a few minutes to figure it out, he did it several times. When the implication became clear they tried to stone him.

  next to inflation, majority rule is the most ingenious scheme ever contrived by government.

  most people have never dared to question the basic morality or logic in the assumption that the majority should have power over the minority.

  i think we as jws acquire many phobias...that ordinary people dont get like:.

  clithrophobia - the fear of being locked in (to a cult).

  scopophobia - the fear of being stared at (when you are partaking or are disfellowshipped).

  the wording in the subject-line is taken from a bible research-thread, started by mds on feb 3, 2000 (see link below).

  it dealt with the wts as the faithful and discreet slave.

  the reason why i take this part of the original thread to the main-forum is, that it brought back to my mind some questions, that i have never been able to answer.

  The answer to what are we called? Called to a life in Christ, few answer the call, but enough to make a Great Crowd. Your words are that only a "little flock finish the race, I would assert that few choose to enter the race, but the majority DO finish because as you said, "Life within oneself, a gift not so easily given away" is not something most who enter the race would want to be disqualified from . for the 144,000 verses the Great crowd standing before the throne try this...
  The 144,000 symbolizing the fullness of those who belong to Christ are sealed, meaning ALL who belong to Christ are sealed. Then once the fullness is called, John sees that they are indeed a GREAT CROWD, standing before the throne.

  Do I believe humans will live on earth? As in a paradise on earth? Well, Heaven is where God is, and towards the end of Revelations we see that the Throne of God< the New Jerusalem is on earth, so the distinction of HEAVEN and EARTH becomes mute.

  Just my thoughts.

  Indeed seek to make your own decesions, but I hope you are doing so by trying to find God's will for you, and trying to conform your will to that of God's. God has a plan for each of us, fulfilling it is what brings true happiness. neither the WTBTS nor the Roman Catholic Church, nor any other org, borg or institution can tell you what God's plan for you is. Leave the organization, GREAT, but don't leave God (which all too often happens when people get free). Find God on His terms and yours, not the organizations. But find him.

  romans 10: 13 says for everyone who calls on the name of jehovah will be saved, acts4:12 says there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name under heaven that has been given among by which we must get saved??????????????

  Wrong again as usual your knuckleheadedness. Crossroads is correct. The word in the Greek is translated LORD. There is absolutely no indication that the writer meant Jehaovah (except for the fact that the writer recognized the divinity of Jesus). In fact, In Romans 10:9 Paul writes "for if you confess with your mouth that JESUS is LORD, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Roman's 10:13 then, if taken in context with the rest of the text when it says "For everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved." clearly shows that Paul was refereing to Jesus as this self same LORD. The WTBTS in an attempt to fool the flock, translated the greek LORD as jehovah. What nonsense. Curious that Paul, while clearly stating that Jesus is Lord, also is quoting from JOEL 3:5 which only supports the doctrine of the divinity of Christ. When Joel wrote these words, he meant Jehovah God, Paul clearly identfies Jesus as the target of the word LORD. Thus yes, Jesus is Lord and God, just as Thomas exclaimed.
