What do Jehovah's Witnesses do about compulsory voting in Australia?
by slimboyfat inwhat are they advised to do?
do they attend polling booths and somehow register "neutrality" or are they allowed to be absent altogether?
have politicians or the media ever addressed the issue?

Do you have self-esteem issues?
by Scooby-Doo ini have issues with my self-esteem and i recently found a video that kind of spoke to me.
my issues aren't necessarily a result from my time with the witnesses, but i do know that perhaps many of you feel down about yourselves sometimes due to the things you have heard from the watchtower society and some jehovah's witnesses.. you get told that you aren't welcome with you're friends and families because of what you believe in and the morals that you stand for.
the shunning practices, in my opinion, are intended to make a person believe that they are worth nothing without the love and support of the congregation.

How can we PICK a new PICKER if we use our old one to PICK?
by Terry inthe same brain that gets you into one false belief will surely get you into another.. take a look at your own life right now.
most of what is going on (good or bad) is because of how you think and act.. you choose.
you pick this and not that.. .

Want to quit Bible study
by confusedstudent inhi i was just looking for some advice.
i have been studying with the jw's for over a year now, and attended 2 memorials and the district/assembly conventions.
at first, and up until very recently i truly believed what i was learning was the truth.

A non-JW gets it!
by MrFreeze inin my attempt to seperate myself from the jw's completely, i am finding all kind of awesome people.
of course, if we are talking by jw's standards these people are "awful".
anywho, there are a couple of them who are absolutely fascinated with the fact that i used to be a jw.. the reason they are fascinated is because they are aware of cultish mind-control and understand just how difficult it is to walk away from it all.

Where do the JW's pull their statistics from?
by stillstuckcruz ini noticed how, of course, the public talk outlines contain the same information for all the brothers to use.
but their statistics on matter aren't very up-to-date i imagine.. example: i remember the talk about parents or young people or something.
many of you may remember the statistic it provides.

Just found my fourth memorial invitation.
by FifthOfNovember init seems like i was really wanted at the memorial this year.. .
first invite: saw a jw in a gas station while i was eating some food with my friend.
he invited me to the memorial orally.. second invite: it was a saturday morning, i was in the shower when a jw came, mom answered the door and talked with him, he left a memorial tract and some magazines.. third invite: found a somewhat crumpled memorial tract with a few small tears on my porch.

Tell me how this is NOT a scam
by sabastious ini know a lot of tradesman and they are all witnesses.
that's because when a young witness man is about to enter the working world he thinks not of his future prospects, but of his present circumstance.
he is recommended this approach by his peers, his role models and his god.

Did you ever "love" the organization?
by slimboyfat ini am catching up on this july 15th study watchtower everyone is talking about.
it's perhaps a bit more intense in its vitriol than has been published in the watchtower in a long while (since the early 1980s apostate witch hunt) but it's stuff we've all heard before, even down to comparing apostasy to an illness and calling apostates mentally diseased.. but the phrase that stuck out for me was this:.
they may arise from within the congregation.
