My Story
by XJW4EVR ini was adopted into a jw family in southern california.
my birth mother gave me up after 6 months (the terms mom & dad refer to my adoptive/real parents).
she gave me up due to the fact that she already had a three year old boy, and back in the late sixties it was not as socially acceptable to be a single mother.

The real cause of the Great Depression
by slimboyfat inbet you never guessed:the "holy year" that was to lift america out of of the depression was planned long before it started; the depression itself was no small part of that plan.
it suited vatican city extremely well to have mr. hoover make as big a failure as he could make, and to help it along.
for many years the systematizers of the 'pope' have been carefully charting and planning the entire political structure of the united states.

Kingdom Hall Accounts Report
by Honesty inwhy doesn't the watchtower society allow accounts servants to make copies of the accounts report and pass them out to all attendees at the kingdom hall so they can follow along as he reads the report?
that way all the dubs could more fully share in the joy that comes out of giving from the heart?.
at the church i attend we have a quarterly business meeting where every one receives a complete financial statement that has been audited by several committees in order to insure that every penny is accounted for.

The fallacy of 'spirituality'.
by nicolaou inleaving the watchtower does not mean leaving god.
many here have been able to maintain a relationship with god without the need for a set of beliefs or a creed or any organised system of worship at all.
no churches, meeting halls or study groups are necessary just a deeply held conviction in the goodness of god and the value of a personal relationship with him.. such believers often stress 'spirituality' over religion.. now i don't mean to denigrate anyone's beliefs and no offence is intended but really, is a 'spiritual' approach to life any better for our mental and emotional well-being than being part of an organised religion?

Cecil Rhodes Scholarship, Rutherford, Franz, and Illuminism
by Rig Boy inmacmillan was a longtime watchtower official and family friend who went by the name "mack" around our house.
he could be trusted.
" franz then admitted that he did not receive the scholarship, but "measured up to the requirements," which is far removed from being "offered the privilege of going to oxford or cambridge in england under the rhodes plan," as macmillan had written.

WHO IS JOHN GALT? (A survey on Ayn Rand)
by Terry insince its publication in 1957, atlas shrugged has sold more than five million copies.
perhaps a measure of the book's continuing influence may be estimated from the results of a survey conducted jointly by the library of congress and book-of-the-month club in 1991. the survey asked readers which books had made a difference in people's lives.
the results found atlas shrugged placing second only to the bible.

Evidence for evolution, Installment 1: Endogenous retroviral sequences
by seattleniceguy inbecause i need to continue doing research on this topic, and it always helps me assimilate things if i write them up or otherwise explain them to others, and because i thought others here might be interested, i've decided to start a series.
in each installment, i'll present one small piece of evidence for evolution.
hopefully, some of the more knowledgeable people here will chime in with related evidence.

What kind of atheist are you?
by Narkissos inchief rabbi leon ashkenazi said: "the difference between an atheist christian and an atheist jew is that an atheist christian does not believe that god exists, while an atheist jew believes that god does not exist.".
i'm not so sure about the jewish-christian borderline, but i love the nuance.. so which sentence suits you better?.
"i don't believe that god exists.".
