PO says that "Parents and children have the wrong view on full-time service
by truthseeker ina friend told me that during the watchtower study, the po commented that, "at the district convention this year, the district overseer said that.
the reason they had the drama on timothy, and the dangers of his going on to further his education, was that parents and children today have .
the wrong views on full-time service and higher education.

Were the people I studied with just crack pots?
by caz ini have been thinking about my late mother today, ( it would have been her b'day) and i am feeling a bit upset over the fact that i no longer have a beautiful old wooden table that she gave me before she passed away.
this piece of furniture was one of the first items that she bought when we emmigrated from the uk to aus' and she had bought it 2nd hand.
i loved that table but i got rid of it on the insistance of the 2 women i was studying with as they told me it had demons in it!

Song for the elders?
by fullofdoubtnow ini wa looking through my friend dedpoets cd collection and came across this song on one of his 10000 maniacs albums.
it's called "don't talk" and we both thought it might be a good song to play to the jws in general and elders in particular, maybe with a few lyrics altered.
don't talk, i will listen, don't talk, you keep your distance, for i'd rather hear some truth tonight than entertain your lies, so take your poison silently.

Outright Lie in the Reasoning Book
by PaNiCAtTaCk inunder the topic "are jehovahs witnesses a sect or a cult?
the last sentence of the first paragraph says "they do not look to any human, but rather to jesus christ, as their leader.".
if an active witness were to make this exact statement to an elder, he or she would throw up a red flag!

For former elders: Did having the authority to DF make you feel powerful?
by juni injust curious about this.
do you realize now what the shunning practice does to a person's emotional health?
to shun or isolate a human being is one of if not the worst punishment.

The person who brought you into the "lie"
by pratt1 in.
just wondering, is the person who studied with you still an active dub?.
in a poll with a few of my friends, all who studied with either us or our parents are now not considered dubs.

How do JW's refer to DF and DA?
by Jourles ini cannot for the life of me remember how i used to refer to ones who were df'd or had da'd while i was a jdub.
i *think* i used to say "so and so was disfellowshipped" rather than "so and so was df'd.
" but i can't remember.. a few days ago, i briefly overheard someone say "was df'd," which caught my immediate attention.

WHAT DUB THINGS WILL YOU NEVER FORGET?
by Mary innow as much as no one wants to admit it, we all know that there are things we learned in the borg that we'll never forget even if we live to be a hundred.
what is something that you know you'll always remember (despite your best efforts to forget!
for me, it's matthew 24:14 and the names of the three hebrews thrown into the firey furnace (shadrach, meeee-shack and a-bed-we-go)

How should the congregations be disciplined ?
by vitty ini dont think disfellowshipment itself is wrong, its the enforced shunning that causes the damage.
i think a lot of posters here agree.
personally i think the public reproof is just sick and when a person is marked!.
