and now a minutes silence for the people of Iraq
by GWEEDO inyou know, as much as i was horrified and felt sick to the gut by the wtc disaster (i must have watched that plane crash into the wtc about fifty times).
there are other things going on in the world that largely go unreported by comparison but constitute just as much suffering(if not more) as the wtc disaster.. one of the questions i've asked myself is why is the u.s. so hated by certain arab groups.
maybe this article from off the 'noam chomsky archive' http://www.zmag.org/chomsky/index.cfm will go a little way to answering that:.

Brits: 90% Say Go In With Yanks.
by Englishman ini thought you folk in the states might like to know how things stand this side of the pond.. sky news interactive showed that 90% of those polled thought that the uk should join with the us military in attacks on countries harbouring terrorists.. the the entrance to the us embassy in london is stacked high with flowers and tributes, the fdr statue in particular has also been similarly honoured.. flags all around the country are at half-mast.. the queen ordered that the daily changing of the guard ceremony at buckingham palace should feature the usa national anthem, this has never happened before at such a nationalistic event.. the famous last night of the proms at the albert hall and hyde park has been restructured to honour the american dead.. it is know that several hundred brits were in the trade centre at the time of the attack.. i just wanted you people to know that your country is by no means on its own in this crisis.

Well, I'm stuck in my office in Manhattan for now
by Michael3000 inhi, folks.
i know nytelecom works nearby (across the river?
), but i can tell you all that today has been (and will continue to be for a loooong time) the single most bizarre, surreal event i have witnessed.. i work in an office building at 26 broadway in manhattan, about 10 blocks from the world trade towers.

Guess what happened at McDonalds today!
by Bendrr inafter a long morning i was desparately hungry but too busy to go to a proper eating establishment.
so i settled for (gag) a fast-food joint to get my blood sugar back up, not to mention damage my wonderfully low blood pressure and cholesterol level.. as usual there is some trailer-park-dwelling ding-dong mommy there with must have been 5 kids wreaking havoc.
as i went to pay, i dropped a twenty on the floor.

Oppression of Women
by MrMoe inthis is a bit lengthy, but is a very big issue with me, and that is the issue of women's rights.
i do agree with women allowing their husbands to make a final decision, being on how women think with their hearts and men think with their heads, making choices often times more logical ones.
but, the husband according to god is supposed to love his wife as his own flesh.
