Hope this move the thread to the top.

Hi, everyone - I am home!

I am just now getting to this site, and reading all of the posts that came after I left work on the 11th. Thanks again for all the hugs and kind words - they were greatly appreciated!!!

Tatiana and Kat: So sorry about your experiences. Any word yet?

The las t 2 days have been indescribable. When I was writing my last posts from work, and during the entire walk up 42 Street/Grand Central, I was OK. But after I boarded my train to go home, the weight of all I had seen and experienced came crashing down on me, and emotion just welled up. Off and on, I cried during my ride home - thinking of the thousands who had surely lost their lives and of their families. The magnitude of what had occured in New York and Washington overwhelmed me. When my fiancee picked me up at the train station in Larchmont, I hugged her - sobbing - and held on to her and told her I loved her a hundred times. I was a wreck. The news footage I have seen over the last couple of days has not been easy to watch, but I am determined to assist any I can. We are giving blood, and I am volunteering for Search & Rescue efforts through the Red Cross. I feel that since I was lucky enough to not die that day, I owe it to those who may still be alive and trapped in that pile of rubble to try and find them. The amount of support and spirit of pulling together is incredible here! No Quick-Build KH project EVER felt like this - you actually feel like you're accomplishing something important!

Well, off to bed for me now - I'll check back with you all tomorrow. God bless!

you are such a strong and kind-hearted person! to volunteer to go back to the scene of such an emotionally charged (with sorrow) area...it just blows me away that you are finding the strength to be able to offer your support in the Search & Rescue area! if its ok, i will be keeping you in my prayers and send strength to help you in your efforts. also sending hopes and wishes that you are able to be sucessful in finding someone alive. please let us know how it all goes...you will be able to offer a unique viewpoint after your volunteer work. i for one would very much appreciate anything you are able to post. having said that, i totally understand if it is too overwhelming to post about. either way please know we are behind you 100%. sending love and caring to you and your family and friends and coworkers. may you all find healing as you help others.

Thanks Kat. I'll be heading to the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, where rescue volunteers are being mobilized. Thanks for your support and kind words!
