Revelation 1.17 Jesus divinity? Or just "the first" raised from the dead"?
by Hellrider ini have been having an argument in this thread, which originally was about the trinity (oh no, not again.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/121719/1.ashx.
...with mondo1, about what the text in revelation 1.17 means.
i don`t want this thread to turn into another trinity-thread, let`s just keep it to the phrase "the first and the last", and revelation, and jesus` status in this text.

JW-apologists - and who survives Armageddon?
by Hellrider inlately i`ve been in conflict with jw-apologists on wikipedia in my country.
the most annoying thing is when the jws are trying to rewrite doctrine to make it sound more humane than it really is.
everyone on this board, everyone who ever was a jw or were raised as a jw,knows what the real doctrine is on this issue.

Don`t know whether to laugh or cry...norwegian wikipedia on jws
by Hellrider ina while ago, the article on jehovahs witnesses on wikipedia (in norwegian http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/jehovas_vitner) was bad enough...i am pretty sure it was written by some well-meaning, but uncritical theologian, who was desperately trying to avoid insulting them.
in other words, it was not critical or biased at all.
well, some jws have been in there and have been rewriting the whole article, as they felt it didn`t portray them in a positive enough light.

Do the members pay for the litterature?
by Hellrider ini am discussing something on the "discussion"-part of wikipedia (on jehovahs witnesses) in my country.
a person there claims that the witnesses pays nothing for the litterature they receive from the watchtower.
is this true?

Earthquakes and rumors of war or whatever ;o)
by Hellrider ini was so inspired by the ridicolousness of thirdwitnoid in that other thread ("the gentile times reconsidered again...but this time i am using the bible"), in which he actually dared bring up the old "increase in earthquakes"-fairytale from the wt and asleep.
it really had nothing to do in that thread, which was about 607 vs 587 (oh no, not that again.... datelocationdeathsmagnitude.

Kids say the darndest things...
by Hellrider inmy son will be 4 years old in november.
this is a funny age, he says the coolest things.
for example: both his grandpas have passed away (before he was born), and he has now been asking where they are.

"Oh that I should have to go thru this..."
by Hellrider inwhen my mother was on her deathbed, she mumbled these words: "oh, that i should have to go thru this...".
i was the one sitting there when she said that, half-way into a coma, and she sounded kind of surprised when she said that.
she was fanatic in her belief in jw-doctrine (although she was inactive the last few years of her life), and she fully believed that armageddon was coming "any day now".

"Letter-preaching"
by Hellrider inthe thread above "help, my jw-mom is pioneering at the age of 76..." made me think of this:.
my grandma on dads side was a very devout jw.
unfortunately, she couldn`t walk very well, partly because of obesity.

Something strange about "Christs invisible presence"...
by Hellrider insomething just occured to me: .
we all know that "parousia" doesn`t mean "invisble presence" at all, it just means "presence", but think about the inlogical...ness about the whole jw-doctrine on 1914. my question is: what is jesus` job really, up there in heaven?
- he "took reign" and was "given the throne" in 1914. but what does that mean, really?

Get`em while they`re young! (JWs, this is for you)
by Hellrider inshe is only 17, and she is having a "bible study" (watchtower indoctrination program) with a jehovahs witness-woman.
and, after chatting a bit with her here, i can easily see in her posts that she is a very young, naive girl, who knows little about religion, the bible, and probably life in general.
she is probably brainwashed beyond hope allready.
