i just wanted to clarify something i said:

much of the philosophy of the new testament (especially that attributed to jesus) can be found WORD FOR WORD in greek writings centuries earlier.

i'm not trying to start in on arguing the existence of jesus here. i'm just saying that, assuming jesus did say every word attributed to him, he must've been well versed in ancient greek philosophy. the point is, the wisdom of the new testament is not unique to the new testament and was prevalent before the gospels or pauline letters were written.

Good lord the places your sick mind goes.

i'm sorry, i wan't trying to offend. i'm just saying that our moral code is not as universal as some might believe. just last week i was reading about "honor rapes" in zimbabwe (i believe). these are something that the government is trying to curtail, but the civic leaders are big proponents of men who have been "dishonored" in some way, getting their buddies together, kidnapping someone related to the "wrongdoer" and doing unspeakable things to them. morals are clearly not universal. i sincerely apologize if i offended anyone.

    Crumpet:

Can we agree to differ hisbis?

Sure we can agree to differ. The Bible shows how God made us yet He gave us choices. We either believe or we don't but the consequences are there. Whatever we do in our lives we have to answer to God. He is our judge after death.

I believe what the Bible says. I've learnt that if we repent and confess our sins He will forgive us...we now have to think like Jesus. How would Jesus deal with this particular situation?

I am not perfect --- no one is. But we have guidance. Would we accept it or not?

    Gumby:

    1. You shall not worship any other god but YAHWEH.

I guess christians are in deep doo doo unless Jesus name is Yahweh too.

Yahweh is the Hebrew name for the Lord and Jesus is the Lord according to the Bible.

    YAHWEH

“Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of Yahweh, the Everlasting God.” Genesis 21:33

Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Yahweh, faithful God.” Psalm 31:5

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom Yahweh calls.” Joel 2:32

    JESUS

“And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ And when he had said this, he fell asleep.’” Acts 7:59-60

Hmm I don;t think you are actually reading anything I say properly - just picking out bits so you can quote a scripture and give a mini lecture on God. I just said that there are very few beings I regard as more disgusting and despicable than God and then you started telling me how he created me and was going to be my judge after death. How grotesque! Man created God not the other way round. You know like the brothers grim created snow white and Tolkien created Gandolph and Charles Dickens created Daniel Quilp. I respect these fictitous characters rather more than the god as described in the bible. At least they are better rounded individuals in the main.

Thanks for not listenign once again.

    also...

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” Romans 10:9-13

****Most time the people who claim to be "In Spiritually High Places" don't have a bone of compassion within them.

Yup Hibiscus this would be you.

You pulled two words out of my post and preached a sermon AT me. You didn't consider what I said to you. YOU DIDN'T LISTEN. I shall return the same favor to you. I've gone out of my way TWICE on this thread to give you the benefit of the doubt. You are only a paste and run sermonizer.
Most of us here have studied the bible and many other holy texts. So quit quoting scripture at us and find some other converts for whatever religion you are shilling for.
