The Ten Commandments!

    Evilforce:

A lot of people think of Christianity as a moral religion: what is right and wrong, what not to do, people in "Spiritual High Places" (ie, priest) telling you how to live. The problem with that is if you follow all these things, you may not really live a moral life. You may be following the rules, but not be widening nor deepening your ethical sense and well being as you grow up and live a more complex life.

Most time the people who claim to be "In Spiritually High Places" don't have a bone of compassion within them.

Those who are worried about a coming world ruler should know that there already is one. Consider this coronation statement: "Receive the tiara adorned with three crowns and know that thou art Father of princes and kings, Ruler of the World, Vicar of our Saviour Jesus Christ."

For over 500 years, each new pope was inaugurated with the triple crowned tiara and told he was ruler of the world. In recent years, the statement has been toned down. The spread of spiritual and intellectual freedom, which came in the wake of the Protestant Reformation, has forced the Vatican tiger to pull in its claws. But they are still there, waiting to strike, given an opportunity.

Modern popes rarely wear the tiara but its prominence in such places as the Vatican pressroom proves that Rome has not really given up on world dominion. The emblem on the wall behind the briefing desk tells not only the scope of the pope's dominion but its presumed source.

Evil Force the real Spiritual High place comment really means therefore:

    Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:11-13 (in Context) Ephesians 6 (Whole Chapter)

The ten commandments does not actuall ysay anything about getting high:

    spiritual wickedness in high places
But I would like it noted for the record that I do not go to "high places" and get wicked or involved with spirits. But if they had a commandment in the bible about it then I just might !

    Crumpet"

As someone has already said - parents should only be honoured if they deserve to be and actually that command in itself is all i need to prove that the bible aint from any kind of God. Respect and honour are earnt not arbitarily awarded because you once had a shag and gave birth to a kid. There are some terrible parents and their children owe them little or nothing. Does a five year old have to honour the father who rapes her each night? Does the boy who witnesess his mother beating his father honour her?

Crumpet that is why God told us....

    1. Ephesians 6:4
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:3-5 (in Context) Ephesians 6 (Whole Chapter)

    2. Colossians 3:21
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Colossians 3:20-22 (in Context) Colossians 3 (Whole Chapter)

Crumpet your real self is a spirit. Your body is the physical part. You have a soul.

Do you know what your conscience really is?

There is this saying some people have no control over their emotions but the physical body has sensory organs....mind over matter???

In some people's mind they say I am going to do this but they do something else. Eg someone who suddenly got in an accident and immediately lost thier legs. Their mind says I'm going to get up and find some help. They try to get up but then realises they have no legs to run or walk.

Can we agree to differ hisbis? You sound like a genuine and sincere person. It boils down to I have no respect and only loathing and abhorrence for the abomination that is attributed to being the author of the bible - God. Nasty vicious, petulant, killer, vain. Hey - if i did as he did and no t as he said I'd be one of the worst killers in the history of mankind.

You have made an excellent reference to the scriptures but not really answered the questions...should a child who is raped by their parents honour them?....of course in an ideal situation children would be treated well by their parents and in a loving environment but that is not the case in way too many situations....can you please answer the question?

My point being is that the 10 commandments are way too simplistic for our modern day and complex lives...an indication of them being written in times when matters and people were much more simple themselves.

    Sweet tee:

Would you also consider that a neighbour could also mean more than the person who lives next to you?

To answer your question; MY neighborhood is the WORLD and I have love for everyone in it.

Well God gave us a conscience you know. He also gave us choices.

i don't know that. and you don't "know" that either. you "believe" that. big difference.

Most of the things you read and see eg philosophies came (if you are really interested in seeking the truth) from the bible. Eg. Be slow to anger.....Wisdom is better than silver and gold.

with all due respect, prove it please. many of the stories in the old testament were directly lifted from babylonian folklore (the epic of gilgamesh and others). much of the philosophy of the new testament (especially that attributed to jesus) can be found WORD FOR WORD in greek writings centuries earlier. care for references? (that is...if you're interested in learning...) to say that modern philosphy is derived from the bible is simply wrong. socrates and (unfortunately) plato are better candidates for that distinction.

Any society. You as an individual can feel what is right or wrong. Jesus sent us the Comforter (The Holy Spirit) to guide us and the Holy Spirit plays a big part of your conscience so the devil also confuses the mind.
so the fact that not everyone subscribes to your morals is proof that your moral code is the correct one? somewhere there is a tribesman boiling his daughter saying the same thing.
