In the recording of the Annual Meeting I was particularly interested in the remarks of GB member Samuel Herd.

Immediately before announcing the change in reporting requirements, he said: “our ministry involves much more than ‘counting time’ “

This is exactly the point that former GB member Raymond Franz was making before his expulsion from both the GB and Bethel.

    (See his book ISOCF pp656-666)

For this ‘insight’ Raymond Franz was expelled from the inner reaches of the Watchtower.

Yet his insight has become “new light”.

Did their “Jehovah” give fresh insight to this new GB or perhaps it was just a ‘slip of the tongue’ to Raymond Franz ?

In the final talk Sanderson says that because of this historic occasion and the maybe the JWs listening are more full of love for Jehovah than EVER before. He says "We've deepened our understanding of Jehovah's mercy, his compassion and his patience and what about that announcement about our field service reporting? Jehovah is dignifying us, he has confidence in us."

From a GB point of view, some of them have likely felt they are proving themselves to be failing in their responsibilities. Instead of progressing, they're going backwards and it reflects badly on them. So badly, that if it wasn't for the excuse they use, that they are imperfect and fallible men, they would conclude that they didn't have God's backing or HS. They've had to conjure up a plan to turn things around and the whole Annual Meeting has been about this.

However, their ideas and reasoning gets more and more bizarre.

Fancy that, Jehovah is finally dignifying the domestics by directing the Governing Body through his Holy Spirit by removing the requirement of detailed ministry reporting.

Stupidly, this means that previously reporting was undignified and they couldn't be trusted. It also means that Jehovah has changed his view towards his followers. One day, they needed monitoring, the next they didn't. It's all Gods doing and nothing to do with the ever changing whims of Governing Body members.

The game made just for us!

Our Field Service Ministry Game allows you to plan out actions to achieve the most time. Whether it's from cart witnessing, going to the Kingdom Hall, door-to-door, return visits or bible studies, there are a variety of ways to increase your hours in the field ministry, while encouraging others.

I suppose this is all a bit redundant now!

""Our ministry involves much more than counting time""

    Of course..

Its probably something along legal entanglements.

    a thought-

since pioneer hours are being counted, might this "inspire" the women of this org, who are the "large army" to jump up - those single, lowly, widowed, wives -second rate - to pioneer just to show they can " make a loud statement " in making this org proud and finally getting noticed by the male dominated society or perhaps the low interested males who have not grabbed onto the direction of the "slave" to step up and become somebody (oh, no status, no way)?

This is what I've been saying for years that they should do. Just have a box where we can check that states we were a publisher that month. And as others have stated, the number of publishers will go up with people just checking the box.

The whole reporting of time, and pioneering, is a violation of what Jesus said "you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your gifts of mercy may be in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you." and "when you make gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full."

Its just that for ages the more ''spiritual" you were equates to higher FS hours..

The lower the hours the more you were equated to rift raft.

To just dump the hours seems so unprecedented.

It’s happened right smack in the middle of their CAA legal troubles…

…and I’m not a big believer in coincidence.

Maybe the rules for qualifying for charity status are changing, and recording the numbers are no longer worth the effort.

or--it was coming down the pipe if people REPORT work--even unpaid--it puts a liability on the organisation they report to.
