Eight years on from this topics opening post I wonder how many of the original posters may have adjusted their opinions on whether Trump is racist or not?

It was here I first read about 'The Southern Strategy' and I think there may be something to that. Whether Trump is racist or not he certainly seems to use race issues to appeal to his base.

This is no comment on his policies just the man himself. For myself, we'll I have a hard time believing his claim ; "I don't have a racist bone in my body".

He's not my cup of tea.

The dems are still the party of racism. Other than their endless droning and screeching, is racism the same issue that it was ooh, say 4-5 years ago?

Remember Treyvon Martin? That "hands-up, honest" guy? Ferguson? BLM?.

All that was lies escalated and fanned by the dems in league with the media. It's all evaporated other than their attempts to now make immigration a race issue and, of course, any criticism of the pro-ISIS lobby of the dems.

I don't think Trump is racist, it's a political invention from the dems backed up by the media and tech companies. The "fine people hoax" has been debunked. But they know they can rely on Google et al to suppress anything that exonerates him and promote known lies.

Just like they are now doing with Epstein - Clinton's involvement with his is being erased while if you search for Epstein + Clinton you'll be given pictures of Trump. The BBC is in on it too, repeating the narrative of "Trump was friends with Epstein" and not mentioning Clinton.

Fun fact, Trump banned Epstein from his Mara Lago property when he assaulted someone's daughter, on the say so of his spa manager (a woman). If you get your news from the mainstream media, you won't have been given that snippet.

    Because. They. Lie.

The Dems and their fascist power mongering -- and now the big 'fraud squad' playing the racism card in every situation. The dems won't stand up against violence much less have respect for the laws.

Yeah, everyone is a racist that's not in perfect lock-step with the new socialist 'fraud squad' party.

Here's the OED definition of racism:

1 Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

1.1 The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Trump's comments are often dumb and crass, no doubt about that. But are they racist?

The problem is, to some people, virtually everything is racist these days. Some people think the film Gremlins (1984) is racist. They see the little green monsters as a metaphor for the African-American community. And because these little green monsters were trashing a pub, getting wasted, dancing like maniacs, shooting each other and generally being violent, well, that's supposed to be a dig at the black community. XD

Back in the good ol' days here in the UK, it was common to hear people saying to other people who appeared to be of Asian ethnicity,''Paki go home'' ''Fuck off back to Pakistan'' or to people who appeared of African ethnicity, ''Get back to the jungle where you came from''.

These comments were made without regard to whether the person was actually of Pakistani heritage or not. Bangladeshis and Indians were lumped together with Pakistanis. I'd guess that the person shouting ''Paki go home'' had not bothered to find out whether the recipient of the exhortation had actually never come from that country or whether they had been born in the UK. Skin colour and appearance seemed to be sufficient justification for the comments.

But to think that the person doing the shouting could have a racist bone in their body is beyond me.

Ah the good ol' days when you could tell Pakis to go home.

it was common to hear people saying to other people who appeared to be of Asian ethnicity,''Paki go home'' ''Fuck off back to Pakistan'' or to people who appeared of African ethnicity, ''Get back to the jungle where you came from'' - but Trump didn't say 'Paki' or any other term of abuse. He didn't say go back to the jungle, either.

If Trump told Arnold Schwarzenegger to 'go back home' would it be racist?
