Upon further reflection I am confused. At least one if not more of the anti-gay marriage crowd have gotten a divorce. Doesn't God 'hate' a divorcing? So now does God hate me more for being gay, or hate the person/s with divorces?

What about masturbation for the other bibical believers? Does God hate masturbators/Onanites more or less than gay people? Does he hate them more or less than divorcees? What about divorcess who are chronic masturbators? And who does God hate more? A shellfish eater, or someone who wears a shirt made from a wool blend?

Also, didn't Jesus say to 'pay Ceaser's things to Ceaser'? What part of the bible has encouraged 'Christians' to use the state as a tool for morality? Some said the US was based on 'Christian values'. Does God love the United States more than other countries then? What favors does, or will God grant countries like the United States if they are 'more Christian'? Does that include the murder going on in Iraq? Is seeking to use a govt to force your 'Christian values' on others any more or less distateful than some of you very same posters have lamented about Sharia law in other places?

Live was just so much simpler when we stoned everyone, for anything. :(

If there were a liberal translation of the Bible, it might say "Ritual anal sex between two men in a Pagan temple is forbidden."

Ugh. I agree ritual anal sex between two men in a Pagan Temple definitely should be banned! disgusting.

Yet another testament to the reason this site should change the name from Jehovahs-Witness.com to Atheist-Gay.com.

    Or, here's an idea:

Perhaps it's a testament to the obnoxious trait of Christian Bible-Thumpers to attempt push their values on the rest of society.

If they don't like the way something looks, why can't they just cease to look at it? Or in this case, cease to read/post here?

If you ask me, the world needs a hell of a lot more love than it does religious bullshit. Who the hell is anybody to say how two people symbolize & express their love for each other. How are you personally hurt by two dudes or two chicks that want to declare their love by participating in a legal ceremony? How? Can you give me one good example, please?

Indie-dude, if you don't mind, I would like to share a comment here that you made to me in private. I hope that I don't overstep your/our boundaries, but I feel that it pretty much explains how some posters treat others on a board where the logo is "...everyone welcome!" Granted, I have gotten into heated debates before w/ realone, but let's face it, that guy is probably one of Evil Force or Frylock's trolls.

I'm conflicted on the whole exJW thing most days. It's like they try to make you dislike them. LOL It's like getting "judged" by a bunch of DFd people that my "sin" is worse than theirs. Bizarre.

That comment pretty much summed up the anti-gay comments on this thread, and a few others that are active right now.

If you expect other people to respect you, you would be well advised to respect others.

I really don't think anyone has tried to be offensive in this thread yet. Some people think being gay is wrong either because of religious views or because they think its just unnatural. You don't make peace with your enemies, you make peace with your friends. I'd advise everyone to ponder that.

Well I must say that this thread has some interesting responses, so many people with so many strong opinions.

I am straight, with a wife of 10 years and two kids, but i have 3 VERY good friends who are gay, my wife's best friend is gay, and we regularly go to a gay nightclub when we are out because our friends are there and because they play the best music

So i guess you could say that I am very much for gay marriages.

But let me ask one question to those with such a strong oppinion against gays (im not talking about just gay marriage but against gays total), Have you every spoken to a gay person? I mean had the chance to really get to know a gay person? I bet you haven't, or have put up the wall when talking to them because they are gay, isnt that what the witnesses to to family members put up the wall just because you are not a witness anymore?

I though this was a place where everyone understood that we are finally FREE!!!! Free to have live our life as we want.

Dont get me wrong I am not saying that just because I like gay people you should too, but at least have the courage to get to know someone who is gay, you will see that they are not monsters, they wont try to seduce you, and they have the same faults and good qualities as every other person on the plannet. How about everyone take a deep breath and think about what we are trying do, I would hate to think that we are falling back into our witness habits of dismissing people just because they think diferently to ourselves.

    FREE at last

Why does the decision upon whether to make gay marriage legal based on what the Bible says? To my knowledge there is freedom of religion in the United States. Why is having one right dependent upon your practice of another?

Ever heard of backlash? Nobody is going to take your precious gay-ness away but it might be nice to take it out of everyones face. I couldn't care less whether you want to get 'married' or not, although male gays seem to revel in promiscuity so I don't know what a gay marriage is supposed to symbolize, and I DON"T care! This site, JWD, seems to have turned into a homosexual pep rally and it is getting boring as narcissism usually does.

Chain a person down and hear them scream. Maybe if homosexuality wasn't looked down upon so much, certain individuals wouldn't feel the need to be so extrovert about it. I say certain because I know many that are not in the slightest. I also know many gay men/women who are loyal to their long time partners, and many straight people who are not.

The sooner we start looking at the indivdual's behaviour, rather than grouping everyone up according to what suits us best, the better off we'll all be.
