  jw: didn't we just hear somebody say that the sun's gonna blow up?.

  me: well, they were saying that it will expand and eventually burn out.. jw: but it can't do that, it just keeps blowing up inside and getting more power.. me: well, they were talking about stars in general, how they have a life span.. jw: but god didn't make it that way, it's firmly established to time indefinite.

  it's not like the sun is a regular star.

  Jah would replace our sun with a new one - when it depletes - in another 4.5 Billion years.

  charity is lacking from the house of god.

  i remember reading once about some young pioneer sisters who needed emergency accommodation and where turn away from brooklyn because they weren’t special pioneers.

  charity begins at home..

  Once in the Jersey City Assembly hall, I was short of a spoon for my lunch.

  There was a Small Kitchen with spoons and stuff and a JW was in charge of that, standing nearby. I humbly asked for a couple of plastic spoon which he refused to provide. So much of sympathy for their own, And why would they feed the poor ?

  What if Damascus is destroyed fulfilling Isaiah 17 prophecy?

  i don't think the wt ever say anything about this prophecy.

  if they did, i think they will say it is symbolic and that it doesn't mean damascus will be destroyed literally,.

  but watching the things happening now in syria , it seems very possible that it could happen.. if this prophecy comes true, will those of you here who have rejected the bible as the word of god think twice regarding the bible?.

  Let's compare the sayings of Jesus and the modern day Governing Body

  imagine yourself still sitting at a kingdom hall meeting and turn to the book of mark 7: 21-23. the sayings of jesus are really profound.

  the scripture makes you think, reflect, enters your heart and produces results.. today, you have your modern day governing body ( who supposedly are the mouthpiece for jesus and jehovah and provide spiritual food for the 8 million followers).

  if jehovah really sends his holy spirit upon these seven men, is this silly and petty message they can come up with?

  Yes, the GB goes beyond what is written and even then I don’t have any respect for the supposed Jesus for the Following reasons.

  He advised his followers to love him more than they love their family and come after him. What else more for a Cult leader ?

  He never condemned slavery and even told a parable on the beating of slaves

  i’m 71 years old now.

  seven decades plus.

  but, i put that in perspective owing to the fact that my older brother died in 1992 at the age of only 51. it was a very sobering time for me even though i was only 45 at the time.

  Any living thing gets old and dies. This is how nature works and had worked for Billions of Years.

  Religions try to create faulty and Anti-Natural hopes like after life, reincarnation, resurrection and all other non-senses.

  We had all realized the truth now and should accept what nature has to offer. Cant worry about things we cant change. This is how I am coping, after having realized Mortality.

  hi please can someone explain this in laymans terms for me coz i be ever got it as a jw and still don't.

  it doesn't make sense to me.

  bible chronology indicates that god’s kingdom was established in heaven in 1914. this is shown by a prophecy recorded in chapter 4 of the bible book of daniel.. overview of the prophecy.

  Everyone gets silly and Crazy dreams and bible has a handful of it.

  People interpret Biblical dreams with their own wishful thinking, which doesn't do any good for Humanity. Hence Not worthy of any consideration.

  This is how I consider Bible now. Sorry.

  when i was a young man growing up in the religion, i would try to defend whatever the understanding of a doctrine was.

  i won a lot of arguments based on the idea that i knew better than anyone i was talking to and defended myself admirably.

  (lol)....eventually, i realized i was in a cult but for many years i was a believer and i had faith that the gb knew more that i could understand..

  The JW Bible study conductor teach that Satan played the part of a ventriloquist and used the snake to trick Eve to eat the fruit.

  Once a person accepts that Bizarre/foolish/Silly explanation , he/she can be fooled all the way until baptism.

  Reflecting On The JW Version Of You

  lately i've been thinking over how far i've come over the last 2.5 years since leaving the cult.

  when i first left i remember not knowing who i really was and what my beliefs and values were.

  previously my values and beliefs were dictated to me the the governing body in watchtower magazines.. i'm politically active, being a member of a political party and i'm even considering running in my local election in a few years.. when it comes to religion, im an atheist who has little time for superstition and "god did it" answers to complex questions.

  My JW version: Most of the time self righteous, arguing with People that WT is correct. Many times battered by Conscience and cognitive dissonance, due to conflicting beliefs. Very often felt that WT teachings are too good to be true. Doubted the WT very often yet obeyed them. Very often Hated meetings and dreaded FS.

  Current Version: Free in mind and spirit. Learned to live every moment of this only life. All religions seem to be humorous now. Feel pity on religiously devout people, who are wasting their lives. Contribute a lot of time to read the books I want, watch any movies, participate in any ceremonies with an open mind, debate religious people when I get a chance, biking and the list goes on.....

  the watchtower company and the jdubs talk so nonchalantly about the year 1914, the year they say jesus became king in the heavenly kingdom.

  they talk about the year like it was just a short time ago.

  the invisible king began ruling in the invisible kingdom.

  104 years ! And not one Sign that Jesus has done anything but sit. He has sat through all the terrible wars, genocide, crimes etc etc of the 20th and early 21st Centuries, and done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !
