    Do Jehovah's Witnesses Accept Evolution?

Some people claim that JWs reject the Theory of Evolution in favor of the Bible's creation account in Genesis.

    But is that really true?

Note these frank admissions in Watch Tower publications:

"Scientists have proved evolution to be true." -- Answers to 10 Questions Young People Ask (2016) p. 27

    "Evolution is a fact." -- Answers to 10 Questions Young People Ask Work, Volume 2 (2016) p. 27; W13 10/15 p. 11; “Bearing Thorough Witness” About God’s Kingdom (2009) p. 141; G 9/06 p. 22; W04 10/1 p. 10; g90 1/22 pp. 8-10; g87 7/22 p. 10; Life - How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or by Creation? (1985) pp. 26, 180, 181; G74 9/22 p. 26

"Evolution is as much a fact as the heat of the sun." -- G 9/06 p. 13; Was Life Created? (2010) p. 18

"Evolution is as much a fact as the existence of gravity." -- Life - How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or by Creation? (1985) p. 181

    "Evolution is a fact; God is a myth." G90 1/22 p.11

"Evolution is a fact. It no longer needs to be proved. No competent scientist doubts it. All educated people believe it. Only the ignorant reject it." G87 1/22 p. 10

"There’s no question that evolution is a fact. We see examples of it every day. No responsible person questions it. It’s as much a fact as gravity and atoms!" -- G74 9/22 p. 17

    "The Bible is a myth" and "evolution is true". -- W75 7/15 p. 443; W71 1/15 p. 48; G70 4/22 p. 3

    Do Jehovah's Witnesses Accept Evolution?

    NO!

Some people claim that JWs reject the Theory of Evolution in favor of the Bible's creation account in Genesis.

    WELL, THEY DON'T!

They may have said that "evolution" takes place, but that it never allows an animal of "a kind" to become another "kind."

What a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. The quotes are accurate but incomplete and completely out of context, not what the writers were trying to convey. However, it is convincing to those too lazy or disinterested to check the source material.

Quote 1: "Scientists have proved evolution to be true." -- Answers to 10 Questions Young People Ask (2016) p. 27

Context 1: "Alex doesn’t want to appear foolish. ‘After all,’ he says to himself, ‘if scientists have proved evolution to be true, who am I to question them?"

Quote 2: "Evolution is a fact."

    2a: Answers to 10 Questions Young People Ask Work, Volume 2 (2016) p. 27

    Context 2a: Unidentified.

    2b: W13 10/15 p. 11

Context 2b: "Scientists, schoolteachers, nature documentaries, and even the entertainment world, with its TV shows and movies, promote the idea that evolution is a fact."

    2c: “Bearing Thorough Witness” About God’s Kingdom (2009) p. 141

Context 2c: "For example, some educators teach that evolution is a fact and insist that if you are intelligent, you must accept it."

    2d: G 9/06 p. 22;

Context 2d: "Similarly, those who insist that evolution is a fact base their conclusions on only part of the evidence, and they allow their own presupposed conclusions to influence the way that they view the evidence."

    2e: W04 10/1 p. 10;

Context 2e: "When learned individuals assert that evolution is a fact, they imply that only the ignorant refuse to believe it."

    2f: g90 1/22 pp. 8-10

Context 2f(i): “Yet, for years the statement has been made again and again, like some mystical chant: ‘Evolution is a fact.’ “-- p.8

Context 2f(ii): “This four-word propaganda line, ‘Evolution is a fact,’ is little (little in content), is a simple sentence (easily said), and is repeated persistently (even 12 times in one short essay).”-- p.10

Context 2f(iii): “Evolutionists that specialize in the Big Lie that ‘Evolution is a fact’ also take another leaf out of Hitler’s book…”-- p.10

    2g: g87 7/22 p. 10

Context 2g: “In his protesting essay, Gould repeated a dozen times his assertion that evolution is a fact.”

    2h: Life - How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or by Creation? (1985) pp. 26, 180, 181;

Context 2h(i): "However, many advocates of evolution feel that they do have sufficient reason to insist that evolution is a fact." -- p. 24

Context 2h(ii): "When leading educators and scientists assert that evolution is a fact, and imply that only the ignorant refuse to believe it, how many laymen are going to contradict them?" -- p. 180

Context 2h(iii): "In similar fashion the book A View of Life, by evolutionists Luria. Gould and Singer, states that 'evolution is a fact,' and asserts: 'We might as well doubt that the earth revolves about the sun, or that hydrogen and oxygen make water.' " -- p. 181

    2i: G74 9/22 p. 26

Context 2i: "Like a religious hierarchy in the 'Dark Ages,' they declare ex cathedra (with authority) that evolution is a fact, and excommunicate into the outer darkness of ignorance any who will not embrace their faith."

Quote 3: "Evolution is as much a fact as the heat of the sun."

    3a: G 9/06 p. 13

Context 3a: " 'EVOLUTION is as much a fact as the heat of the sun,' asserts Professor Richard Dawkins, a prominent evolutionary scientist."

    3b: Was Life Created? (2010) p. 18

Context 3b: " 'Evolution is as much a fact as the heat of the sun,' asserts Professor Richard Dawkins, a prominent evolutionary scientist. [ftn: Natural History, “Darwin & Evolution—The Illusion of Design,” by Richard Dawkins, November 2005, p. 37].

Quote 4: "Evolution is as much a fact as the existence of gravity." -- Life - How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or by Creation? (1985) p. 181

Context 4: "[The book A View of Life, by evolutionists Luria. Gould and Singer] also declares that evolution is as much a fact as the existence of gravity.”

    Quote 5: "Evolution is a fact; God is a myth." -- G90 1/22 p.11

Context 5: “Evolutionists say: ‘Evolution is a fact; God is a myth.’ “

Quote 6: "Evolution is a fact. It no longer needs to be proved. No competent scientist doubts it. All educated people believe it. Only the ignorant reject it." -- G87 1/22 p. 10

Context 6: “The usual approach is dogmatism, such as: ‘Evolution is a fact. It no longer needs to be proved. No competent scientist doubts it. All educated people believe it. Only the ignorant reject it.’”

Quote 7: "There’s no question that evolution is a fact. We see examples of it every day. No responsible person questions it. It’s as much a fact as gravity and atoms!" -- G74 9/22 p. 17

Context 7: "The [State Advisory Committee of Science Education] reacted explosively, saying, in effect: ‘There’s no question that evolution is a fact. We see examples of it every day. No responsible person questions it. It’s as much a fact as gravity and atoms!’ "

Quote 8: "The Bible is a myth" and "evolution is true".

    8a: W75 7/15 p. 443

Context 8a: "Her teacher was telling the class that the Bible is a myth and that evolution is true, and so the publisher gave some comments to explain why she could not agree."

    8b: W71 1/15 p. 48

Context 8b: "Yet, the clergy are out front in proclaiming that evolution is a fact and that the Bible accounts are merely myth."

    8c: G70 4/22 p. 3

Context 8c: "Many clergymen also say that evolution is true and that the Bible is myth.

Quote 9: "The theory of evolution is true" -- The Origin of Life—Five Questions Worth Asking (2010) p. 9

Context 9: "If the theory of evolution is true, it should offer a plausible explanation of how the first “simple” cell formed by chance".

When I was a Jobo I made the mistake of thinking evolution was about the origin of life rather than just adaptation.

When I heard of Abiogenesis I was a very confused lil' Jobo-head. I think it's because like many other dishonest religions, they misrepresent the meaning of words.

The WBT$ don't really give a monkeys as long as you give them your money.
