BU2B... don't let it get to you so much!! Chill!!
I'm in a similar boat to you, elder hubby, MS/pioneer son (still at home). You have to let her know how you feel without letting all that negativity come out. Reach her natural persona, appeal to it. Even the most hardedned JW has a natural side! I have my mum to stay sometimes and she's full on, I change the subject to lots of other things, it can be done as long as you don't let the JW stuff get to you.
I know at the assembly is a bad time, we've just had our RC but take a deep breath, get through it and when it's over just put it behind you. Meetings too much? Don't go. FS too much? Don't go. Do something fun instead, let your wife see you having fun instead of drinking yourself into oblivion.
You can get through it! Like me and many others are having to!
Piztjw.. thanks for the summary. LOL!

WT is obsessed with "Korah"
by EndofMysteries inkorah and the faithful and discreet slave go hand in hand.
korah and sparlock.
if you do a search for the word, "korah" in the wt lib, the wt barely goes a month without showing into a wt or magazine about rebellious korah and applying it to themselves as being moses and if you question the authority of the gb, you'll be destroyed.

So glad I didn't go Sunday! Hubby said something about it to me later. When I said that Jesus was the 'Greater Moses' and not a bunch of men in Brooklyn, he went quiet. LOL

My hubby is an elder, he's a good man. Does everything he should and yet he still says he doesn't feel good enough. He's always beating himself up over the things he gets wrong. It hurts me to see it. I want to shout at him to get out of this religion! Then he'd feel better. But I know he wouldn't, he'd still carry the guilt around with him. That's the sad thing about it.
To be free of it you have to tell yourself there is no reason whatsover to feel guilty about anything. Why should you? Who made you feel that way? What do you feel guilty about? Carrying a load of guilt is what we've been made to feel, whether we do things or don't do things. We can't ever feel happy because we've been made to feel that way.
You have to break that cycle before you can ever move on and feel happy with your life. You don't owe anything to anyone. Just be true to yourself. If people don't accept you for who you really are then they are not worth having in your life anyway.
I hope you can find a way forward. Look forward to graduating in your job and use it as a fresh start to a new you and a new life. All the best!

The other side of the Ashya King story

Just been reading this from the results of the court hearings. The judge in the case seems very reasonable and compassionate towards the parents. Very interesting.
http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/judgment-ashya-king-08092014.pdf
Interesting what he had to say about the developments:-
"I therefore conclude that the local authority acted
entirely correctly in applying to the High Court, and further that Judge Arthur was
right, on the evidence before him, to make Ashya a ward of court. My comments are
confined to the matters within the family jurisdiction. I make no comment as to
whether or not it was appropriate to seek a European Arrest Warrant. I merely observe
that one consequence of this course was that Ashya was separated from his parents
and left alone for several days in the Spanish hospital. As I observed at the hearing on
2nd September, whatever the rights and wrongs of his parents’ actions, it was not in
Ashya’s best interests to be separated from them in such circumstances." -

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

If the OP had really gone back to the Borg I don't think he would have posted under his original username. he'd have invented a new one.
The fact he's still using the same username from years ago and was clearly an 'apostate' himself all those years ago (and judging from those posts he has a sharp sense of humour) tells me that he's having us all on.
I'm with Finklestein on this one. Time will tell.

Do you like the people in the Bible?
by Dis-Member inthe society always speaks about all the wonderful people and characters in the bible.. they always too speak of many of them as being so humble, faithful, loyal, diligent, loving, kind, wise, merciful etc, and worthy of imitation.
also of how god blessed them followed by endless examples and reasons why we today should imitate them.. .
they also speak of how wonderful it would be to meet some of these people in the future 'new system' and have often depicted scenes where the the survivors of armageddon would be gathered around some ancient resurrected faithful asking them questions and listening to their stories of times past.

It would be Jonah for me too. God tells him to go and do something, preach to that days equivalent of ISIS and tell them to repent. Jonah ups and leaves as fast as he can possibly go in the opposite direction. If God thinks he's going to walk into some city just so he can get his head chopped off, he's got another think coming. (Or maybe he envisages himself being skinned alive). Whatever, he's not doing it. So God teaches him a lesson. He's still not done. He sees God forgiving these terrorists and isn't at all happy about it. He sits in the desert feeling totally miserable after all he's been through. What a waste of time!! He's been scared s***less, thrown off a ship into the sea in a storm, swallowed by a big fish for 3 days, then decided it's best to face these terrorists after all only to have God tell him he's been through all that for nothing (as far as he's concerned).
I kind of feel sorry for him..

Goodness! Where on this planet do you live stuck? I'm in the UK and that's like going from here to the end of Italy or Spain! That's craziness!
Even 100 miles here is a long way to go for a convention.

"So, how many tracts did you place last month during the campaign???"
by stuckinarut2 inas we all know, the org now wants everyone to count the number of flimsy, one page tracts on every monthly report from now on.... so, what is the general buzz around the traps about how many the average witness is reported to have placed?.
(yes, it is a seriously stupid thing designed to keep the flock busy and also designed to measure their 'spirituality').
i need to fudge my report, and i havent got the foggiest clue what sort of numbers each witness has on average 'placed'......
-
tornapart
I've not placed any and I'm happy to put '0' on my report.
