Finding Armageddon-esque undertones at the Olympic Closing Ceremony
by Flat_Accent inmy dad in particular hasn't shut up about this.. they played john lennon's 'imagine' at the closing ceremony - fantastic song, though the actual message would seem to clash with that of the olympics.. anyway, one of the lines is of course "imagine no religion.".
well i've never heard such a kerfuffle about a song lyric in this house since lady gaga was bluffing with her muffin.. .
i like how the only thing they can pick up on for the sunday circle-jerk is a song that was written 41 years ago, the composer of which is now dead, albeit untimely.. .

Is this valid reasoning for Trinitarian Doctrine?
by Flat_Accent ini had been watching jwfairytale's videos recently, and he's been including snippets of this short film about a guy that becomes a jw and then changes to a born again, or so i think.
you can watch it here.
it's very dated, but quite enjoyable:.

I'm getting more and more frustrated . . .
by Flat_Accent inso last friday we had our regular visitor over.
one of the single brothers from my former hall.
we were decent friends when i was still attending meetings, but since my departure we don't have a lot in common.

Should I attend a JW funeral?
by Flat_Accent ini mean, i had respect for the guy, and it's obviously right to be there for the family and show support.
however, i can imagine what it will be like going back.
i was friendly with a lot of the older, tougher sisters, so i'm sure they'll get on my case.

Inconsistent logic over dinner.
by Flat_Accent in> "you can never rely on politicians, because they will never agree on anything.".
> "we really need a new sound system, but the sharing congregations won't agree to it .
> "like the bible says, 'things going from bad to worse.'".

Holidays
by Flat_Accent innow it's been a good 8 months since i told my parents i no longer considered myself a jw.
things have settled down to an extent but the hurt is still there - they think i'm going to die and as such are overly concerned for my safety.. in november i met a gal online and we've kept contact.
a few months ago we decided i would come to visit her for a week.

EVERYONE IS AGNOSTIC
by Flat_Accent insince we are born in ignorance, it's the starting point for each of our journeys even if many move away from it.
some return while others never do though even these remain 'agnostic' towards leprechauns and such.
eventually we end up in the same state of ambivalence and uncertainty as when we began.. the journey is what makes a life and if yours contains a positive or negative belief in anything that's fine - so long as it causes no harm.
