A photograph that I would pay money for...
by cedars ini've only recently become properly acquainted with barbara anderson's wonderful website www.watchtowerdocuments.com.
after reading her life story, she strikes me as a truly remarkable woman.. if i may quote from her story, one particular experience stood out for me when she was going through old memorabilia as part of a research project at the brooklyn headquarters.... in one of these drawers, finding personal photographs of the second president of the watchtower society, joseph f. rutherford, was, for me, one of the most disagreeable and revolting discoveries.
rutherford was clad in a dark-colored, one-piece, skin-tight, sleeveless swimsuit which covered him down to his thighs, a garment popular in the late 1920s and 30s.

Hello all
by Theredeemer inafter many years of visiting this site off and on since its inception i would finally like to throw in my two cents and opinions into the mix.. first of all, i am a born in, baptized at the tender age of 9. although i totally disagree with allowing someone at that age to get baptized, i will say that i was very imformed and i knew my dogma!
at the same time, though, i was aware of many inconsistancies with many of the beliefs and practices of the jw faith.
i was adopted by my grandparents since i was 2 months and they had been jws since 1950s.

The Convention Pretty Much Sucked
by Franklin Massey ini feel better now.. but just in case you are wondering why i think it sucked, here you go:.
- it was clearly an "insider's only" convention.
why invite the public if you are just going to engage in crazy talk that only jws can decipher?.

Hebrew scholars are actively correcting "mistakes" in the Bible!
by wearewatchingyouman injerusalem a dull-looking chart projected on the wall of a university office in jerusalem displayed a revelation that would startle many readers of the old testament: the sacred text that people revered in the past was not the same one we study today.. an ancient version of one book has an extra phrase.
another appears to have been revised to retroactively insert a prophecy after the events happened.. scholars in this out-of-the-way corner of the hebrew university campus have been quietly at work for 53 years on one of the most ambitious projects attempted in biblical studies publishing the authoritative edition of the old testament, also known as the hebrew bible, and tracking every single evolution of the text over centuries and millennia.. and it has evolved, despite deeply held beliefs to the contrary.. for many jews and christians, religion dictates that the words of the bible in the original hebrew are divine, unaltered and unalterable.. for orthodox jews, the accuracy is considered so inviolable that if a synagogue's torah scroll is found to have a minute error in a single letter, the entire scroll is unusable.. but the ongoing work of the academic detectives of the bible project, as their undertaking is known, shows that this text at the root of judaism, christianity and islam was somewhat fluid for long periods of its history, and that its transmission through the ages was messier and more human than most of us imagine.

Has anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?
by garyneal inhas anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?.
did they really try to prove it to you or did they write you off as hopelessly lost or somewhere in between?
as some of you are aware, i have been trying to get my wife to prove it to me, and if not her, another believing jehovahs witness.

A warped view of the "Anglo-American World Power"
by cedars ina relative of mine recently asked me to comment on what was said in the final talk at the latest convention.
i obviously didn't attend the convention, but i was able to get hold of a recording.
here is a transcript from a recording of the final talk, entitled god's kingdom will crush all other kingdoms - when?

Why is the Youth book not on Watchtower Library?!
by cedars ini realise this question may have been asked before, so please point me in the right direction if it has.. i've been aware for some time that the youth book isn't on the watchtower library cd-rom.
until now i've never questioned why, because i've assumed that this is simply due to the fact that it was "superseded" by the ypa book.
however, i've noticed that other books that were "superseded" are still on the cd-rom - for example, the old song book, the old school guidebook, the old family life book etc.. i remember my parents studying the red book your youth - getting the best out of it with me as a child.

My public talk on sunday
by mankkeli ini am currently preparing for the public talk on sunday and as i was looking through the outline some these thoughts just keep popping up my mind that in the face of several allegations and numerous scandal, wbts has not stopped claiming to be god's organisation, i am wondering if they will ever realise that their strategies are no longer appealing to the general public.
regrettably, they keep on publishing and printing using victims of mind control hazards to the detriment of over 7 million rank and file members and spiritual illiterates in the society.
i keep on pondering on how long this malicious activity would continue.
