For those of you who attend a church
by closer2fine ini was raised a jw & left when i was 19. my husband went to a few different churches growing up (catholic, methodist etc) but he doesn't really consider himself a member of any particular denomination.
he considers himself a christian, although he isn't sure what he believes or if he believes in the bible as god's word.. i have run from any type of organized group that is controlling.
i don't know if i believe in god, or the bible as anything more than a series of stories with life lessons in them.

We are forgetting something.
by MrMoe inthose of us who are no longer jw's were jw's at one point in time, correct?.
we all know for a fact that 95% of jw's do care - so much - that they endure mosquitoes, heat, cold, fire ants, rabid dogs, loss of personal income, spend their free time dedicated to helping others, and much much more to help assholes who hate them to help save their lives.. please - do not carry anger towards these people, because we were once like them (blind.
) it is not their fault they are wrong - because at one point in time we were all like them.

Why JWs and ex JWs Return to Watchtower
by Victor_E inwith recent events of the wtc bombing some ex jws and inactive jws are returning to meetings and all the customary rituals.
some wonder what could drive such individuals to do such irrational acts.
i will outline some of the factors and i admit that it could be one or more or none of these because in the final analysis only the individual person knows why.. fear: as jws we were programmed to have a pervasive fear of a god that was punitive and blood thirsty with his creatures.

How did you leave the JW's?
by rhett inmy question for everyone is how did you leave the org?
not really what led up to it but what did you do to no longer be a part of it?.
personally, i think i have to have one of the more humerous stories of leaving.

In the big scheme of things, Jesus'....
by SixofNine in...suffering was not so bad.
his "perfection" and understanding of the situation would certainly have mitigated his suffering.. his death was not really death, not in any meaningful sense.
it was a 15 second nap, using bible reasoning.

Failed predictions
by joelbear inwhen all this happened last tuesday i predicted the market would fall 600 to 1000 points and that gold and oil would go way up in price.. well, i got 1 out of 3 right.
batting .333. i sure wouldn't want to try to make a living on being able to predict stuff right.. just posting this to show that even a dummy like me can get things right once in a while, but that the intricacies of life are too complex for anyone to get everything or even a high percentage of things right.
live life.. hugs.
