Since my Elder dad died...
by aquagirl inive been sad.i miss him alot.but i must say,it is very nice to not be hearing all of the "doom and gloom" all of the time.the "we will all be in paradise except you,and even tho i wont be supposed to,ill still miss you" speech.
{still chokes me up a bit}.hell, yeah,i miss my dad,and feel like i was robbed of many years of a good life with him by the jw's and their petty doctrines and spys.i still have my mum,and she goes to the meetings occasionally, but she knows the deal.my dad was just too damaged from his time in aushweitz to really ever be happy of free.poor soul.i hope he has found some solace and peace at last.dad,i still love you, even tho you made my life hell with the jw thing,i know you were doinf it cause you really did believe it...but its nice to be away from it.i hope he is at peace at last......

To Dissassociate or just Fade into Inactivity ? Your Choice ? Reasons ?
by flipper inthis has been asked before, however i thought it may be good for newer members of the board to read some of our reasons on how we decided to exit the jw cult and why we decided to do it the way we did.. first off - i have been faded for almost 8 years.
essentially i decided to fade into inactivity and not da because i have elderly jw parents who would shun me if i did get dfed or daed myself.
also- i like keeping open the possibilities that some of my many jw relatives may in time start doubting and have questions and reach out to me in my inactive state.

The Generation(s) That Wasted Their Lives
by undercover ingrowing up as a jw, you see the world differently than most everyone else.
you see the world as something that is going to end very soon.
all that we know will be gone by the time we're adults.. when we were young, we were living in the last days and were expecting armageddon before we grew old.

MEMORIAL AT THE KINGDOM HALL OVERFLOWING WITH NEWCOMERS?
by steve2 inthis is a question for those brave souls who, for whatever reason, attended this year's memorial: .
who else was there?
was there any evidence that the witnesses are still attracting a large crowd of "newly interested ones" (to use their awful phrase) or even complete strangers drawn in by the door-to-door work.. i hear lots of comments about how poorly attended some of the weekly meetings in the halls have now become, so i'm curious about what you guys may have seen when you attended in the past day or so.

Are you a spiritual? - What is the definition?
by TastingFreedom inas a jw, the definition of spirituality is very limited and narrow minded.
but i have realized that i'm a spiritual person even as an agnostic.
watchtower's use of the word is completely wrong, and only used to benefit their own agenda.
