  published on tue dec 07 08:12:05 gmt 2010. a rapist evaded justice for 25 years because jehovahs witnesses did nothing when told about his child sex abuse, a court heard.. anthony burns, aged 54, was confronted with his crimes against a young child in the 1980s but no action was taken by the religious organisation.. burns repeatedly abused a girl as young as nine years old, from 1977 until 1984 when she revealed what had been happening.. burns, of back road, wisbech, in cambridgeshire, denied four charges of indecent assault, attempted rape and rape but was convicted after a trial.

  the abuse took place in the 1970s and early 1980s in eastbourne and northamptonshire.

  I wish that Barbara Anderson would do another TV programme again to highlight this with silent lambs. It was watching that TV coverage that shocked me and was the straw that broke the camels back. More JW's need to be aware of silent lambs and Barbara Andersons story, I am sure many have not even heard of her.

  The victims voices need to be heard. These poor children, many adults are suffering because of what happened to them as children in the organisation because of their stupid policies and cover ups. When I watched that programme it was the last time I went to a kingdom hall meeting.

  I am so sorry looloo for what your daughter went through, and the disgusting way it was handled. It was brave of her to go to court because she was thinking of protecting other innocent children. I hope others will do the same and not be afraid to expose and speak out.

  Oh Grace how scary, what a shock for you the snow and ice are so dangerous please take care. I am glad that you are ok . Try and wait until you have friends or relatives that can help you. I know it's a pain but at times like this you need to be so careful.

  it s me again....and yes, i m still alive.. first of all: i am really sorry for causing some trouble lately.

  i had the intention of taking an overdose the other day.

  to be perfectly honest, i was drunk out of my mind when i wrote my last post, and someone i knew gave me all kind of pills to take.

  When my jw dies should I go to the service at the hall ?

  i am been shunned by the rest of the jw family, and feel that to make a point when my dad dies my family( ex jw ) will not be going to the service at the kingdom hell.

  we need to get our own back on these morons in the family and see how they like been shunned for not going to weddings and receptions in the family sod them all.. .

  I am dreading this, I don't even think anyone in our family will even tell us if anyone dies, we will probably find out after they have had the funeral. It is all so surreal.

  i'm from a reasonably dysfunctional family, and my brother married a really nice lady who was "studying" with the jws.

  over the years i saw this independent, funny lady change.

  Hi Retro welcome so glad you were not taken in, thanks for sharing your story. I hope you will be able to help your SIL to start thinking for herself. It's interesting how you said you noticed her changing over the years. Being a JW supresses and controls you. I found it such a freeing experienced when my mind finally left. You can leave physically but it is not until you are mentally free that you really leave.

  Thats why I like coming here because only others that have been JW's really understand what that is like. I hope you can understand and learn from everyone here.

  Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

  JW Family cut me off 2 months ago and im just inactive! Why ?

  can you guys tell me what was said at the last circut assembley about jw's not having anything to do with family who have faded or d/f d/a.. my jw dad was cool prior to october 2010 but has just fell off the planet in the last 2 months.

  no phone calls / emails etc... what's been said to the jw's to just cut family off so suddenly ?.
