New WTS Ministry Textbook
by artful ingreetings.. since this is my first post to this board, i would like to submit some interesting information from a new watchtower society (wts) ministry textbook.
this new publication is to replace the existing "school guidebook" and is to be used by all jws starting in 2003. .
please excuse me if this information has already been posted elsewhere on the board but i think that an interesting discussion is to be had here.

JW's and Chronic Fatigue Syndrone!
by cornish inchronic fatigue syndrone, m e, yuppie flu.
.
i dont know if anyone else has noticed the alarming number of jws who claim to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrone,i mean hear in cornwall there tend to be several sufferers in every congregation, outside the jws out of the many people i know i dont know anyone, although there are obviosly many outside the jws who suffer this illness, percentage wise it seems that jws have a much, much larger occorance of the illness.. for example my brother in law has not worked and been living on invalidity benefits for more than 10 years since his mid twenties, his brother is also in the same boat, an m.e sufferer.. i wonder if anyone has looked into this a bit more?

To: Ex-JW Women - Your Side
by Amazing inex-jw women: i, and i assume other ex-jw men, would enjoy hearing your views, opinions, feelings, analysis, and conclusions about your jw experience.
how did you feel about your husband, fathers, brothers, elders, ms's, and other women in the organizations?
did you generally feel oppression, and why?

To those who need no purpose in life
by gumby inafter reading the comments from many on the thread "is there a purpose in life" by itsjustme , posted a couple of days ago i am confussed.. i cannot understand how anyone can be content and not believe life has a purpose.. to not be compelled to wonder how all the design around us is just here because who knows why ......totally baffles me.. at this point in my life believe in a creator but have so many unanswered questions.
things do not make sense in the bible.. if i were to come to believe that the bible were a fairytale of myths...i would feel as stupid as i did when finding out the borg was a crock.. i also would be emotionally devastated.. here are some samples of your comments about lifes purpose.
we may have been put here by someone, or we may not have.

Paradise - I Think I'll Pass........
by Black Man inone thing that has always kinda ticked me off with the society depiction of paradise, is the completely bland, devoid of personality, stepford wives-ish look given to paradise pics in the publications over the years.
peeps walkin' around smilin' for no reason, no attention given to a cultivation of technology, the arts, space exploration.
there never seemed to be any point to paradise.

my notes from letter read at service meeting
by DB inat tonight's service meeting, a letter was read concerning child molestation and the society's policy.. to preface, i jotted down notes in the form of a brief outline.
also, the elder reading it said that the letter is primarily directed to jws for the purpose of answering questions that we may encounter.. here's my outline:.
god's people are happy, in stark contrast to this world.. one reason is that we respect bible's view of sexual matters.. we abhor child abuse.. we will not protect abusers, or sheild them from the consequences of their wicked acts.. we expect elders to investigate every case (report) of child abuse.. but, we congregation follows bible stipulation that there must be two or three witnesses to establish a matter.. no congregation privilages extended to known child molesters.. elders are instructed to report abuse when required by state law.. people have the "absolute right" (my quotation marks for emphasis and to underscore that it is a quote from the letter) to report child abuse to the authorities.. since 1981 several articles published dealing with with matter in wt and awake.. when circumstances made the need clear, we have strengthened our policy over the years.. we feel that our bible-based policy is strong.. some additional notes: there were several scriptures cited and read, i did not jot them down.. well, i did note 1 tim 5:19 and 24. these verses were read after the comment abuout the need for two witnesses.
