by Magwitch ingrowing up a jw, we always had family from out of town visit or we would go visit family.
it was fun to get together with my other jw cousins over christmas.
(however, it was hell going back to school in january as the only girl without a new sweater).. as a married jw though it was a different story.

i'm starting too wonder if thiers somthing wrong with me!
the worst part is while the rational part of my brain is telling me my reations stupid the irrational part of brain is screraming and my hearts beating so fast i cant feal or control my reations.

Resistance to WT
by snowbird inafter reading the threads on fading vs speaking out openly against wt policies, i was struck by how similar this is to the underground railroad during slavery, and later, resistance to jim crow.. in both situations, some jumped at the opportunity to escape bondage or oppression.
others chose a more indirect approach and were often reproached for doing so.. in the case of the underground railroad, several factors kept slaves rooted to the plantation - fear of the unknown, concern for families left behind, a sense of loyalty and indebtedness to their masters, a deep hope that things would, must, get better.. resistance to jim crow operated along similar lines.
those who had the least to lose were at the front of the battle.

Response to the Argument that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Cult Members
by bluecanary inthis is in response to the ezine article the argument that jehovah's witnesses are not cult members:.
this article is dangerously misinformed about (a) what constitutes a cult and (b) that the jws do in fact fit this category.
there is ample evidence of mind control, manipulation and cult tactics in this group, but you will not see it by casually chatting with a witness.

I think I've reached that point in life where I hate my job and will always hate my job
by Elsewhere inremember when you were a kid and you saw the funny bits in shows about how someone hates their job and just goes to work to pay the bills.
i think i've reached that point in my life.. i hate my job.. i used to love the work i do... but the way a corporation crushes your soul and leaves you as an empty husk of your former self has finally taken its toll on me.. i used to look forward to the challenges of work... now i wake up, go to work, do what i have to do to get through the day and then go home.. .
it's totally absurd but i find myself literally fantasizing about winning the lottery so i can get my soul back..
