"Remember, nobody can REALLY love you unless they know and love Jehovah first."
by AllTimeJeff in"unless they know and love jehovah first.
they love "jehovah".
they discuss how to make sure that though they are in charge, everyone doesn't see them, they see the great and powerful jehovah.... oh.

Why I could not be a JW
by littlebuddy ini could not be a jw because of the following.
i am very weary of churches, org,etc that are so controlled, with little freedom of thought that any expression of difference and one could be on the way out.
also i feel the jw's have the wrong jehovah, wrong jesus, wrong holy spirit, wrong view of salvation, who goes to heaven, the lost, how the lost spend eternity, wrong view of israel, the 144,000, birthdays, etc.

Off to a JW "Gathering"
by treadnh2o ini have not been to a meeting this year.
yet i was invited to a witness "gathering" through my wife and kids.. i really don't want to go.. however, if my reason for not going is because of someones religion, i am really no different than they are.. guess i need to go based on principal.. i won't change my mind, but am interested in your take on this situation.. .

I have a conundrum....armchair psychologist needed!
by journey-on inyou have to make a life changing choice.
you approach the choice one way and your spouse advocates a different approach.
the nature of the situation removes any possibility of a compromised arrangement.

How Many Personally Heard F. W. Franz Speak?
by snowbird ini believe i did in 1974, but i was just coming into the org and didn't realize the significance of the part he played.. it was a sunday at a stadium on the campus of the university of alabama in tuscaloosa.
all the "friends" were almost beside themselves with excitement, so looking back, it must have been f. w. franz!.
i'd worked until 6 pm that saturday night, had a one year old teething child, and had to arise at 3 am to get ready for the bus trip.. when we arrived, the weather had turned colder, the stadium was quite warm, and i fell asleep a few minutes into the talk.

JW Defenders- Is WTS Right to Insist You Stay Away From these Websites?
by OnTheWayOut ini read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?
) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.
i don't want to harp on each point.

Is punishing someone for changing their religion against international law
by ldrnomo ini saw this on wikipedia:.
the united nations commission on human rights, considers the recanting of a person's religion a human right legally protected by the international covenant on civil and political rights: "the committee observes that the freedom to 'have or to adopt' a religion or belief necessarily entails the freedom to choose a religion or belief, including the right to replace one's current religion or belief with another or to adopt atheistic views [...] article 18.2 bars coercion that would impair the right to have or adopt a religion or belief, including the use of threat of physical force or penal sanctions to compel believers or non-believers to adhere to their religious beliefs and congregations, to recant their religion or belief or to convert."[5].
seems to me that being shunned by family and friends for quitting jehovah's witnesses would be penal sanctions.. .
