"We're not here to convince you this is the truth."
by sd-7 inthose were the words of an elder during my judicial committee.
it's weird that they suddenly came to me, weeks later.
i can't help recalling the disappointment i felt when i heard that.

Were You Embarrassed When Someone "at the door" Knew More About the Bible Than You Did?
by BabaYaga init seems i often encountered "householders" who could rattle off examples of the bible contradicting itself or go into a diatribe about the history of the bible.
i never knew what to say... but of course i was trained to "know" we were still "right" regardless of their argument, and i somehow still managed to feel holier than thou and left the door feeling sorry for them (rather than foster any dangerous doubts!).
did you ever feel that someone "at the door" might actually know more about the bible than you did?

Why did Jesus allow people to believe in falsehood? John 6:51, 52, 66
by jwusr inwhy did jesus allow people to believe in falsehood?.
(john 6:51) 51 i am the living bread that came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread he will live forever; and, for a fact, the bread that i shall give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.. 52 therefore the jews began contending with one another, saying: how can this man give us his flesh to eat?.
66 owing to this many of his disciples went off to the things behind and would no longer walk with him.. .

Making Up Definitions: Death
by EverAStudent inone of the things that has frustrated and bothered me greatly is how the wts has invented their own definitions for koine greek words that already have meanings.
the word death is one of those.. .
throughout the past 2000 years the word death has been widely known and accepted to mean not only that the corporeal body has died, but with regard to spirituality, it has meant that one exists forever knowing they are separated from christ and the father.
