More books about jw's the better! Hopefully more therapists will consider her work and implement their own style along with her information. Just having a (another) professional call it a cult is a good start and the fact that she is an ex jw would be more appealing to the ex jw community at large I would think.

Vegetarians in the "new system?"
by Lynnie inso i was looking on instagram and one of my former jw friends was showing pictures of his bbq ribs and saying something about well we better eat all the pigs we can now since we won't be eating meat in the new system of things?

JWs and Pacifism
by pale.emperor inpacifismˈpasɪfɪz(ə)mnoun: pacifismthe belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means.. .
one thing that always irked me as a witness was their pacifism.
i totally agree that non violence is a wonderful way to live, but at the same time whenever i'd read or watch something about nazi germany i always thought being a pacifist in that environment wouldn't work.

"My aunt even went so far as to say if she or her family were being attacked and the the attacker dropped his gun, she wouldn't pick it up and use it."-
When my jw first joined up we had a few discussions in this vein as well. It worried me to think my jw would do nothing to protect me & kids should it become necessary. I almost wanted to buy a gun just in case. I knew if he came home and some masked men were killing/raping me & kids he would do nothing?!!?! (the actual chances of that happening are about 1 in a million, it was just for the sake of discussion) Then a few years later the borg must have come out with new light and he did a complete 180 and said it is perfectly acceptable to protect yourself and your family if need be.
I cannot agree that jw's are even neutral about anything.
Neutral- not helping or supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement, etc.; impartial.
When do jw's not have an opinion on governments, world affairs, politics or anything for that matter? I don't think they got the memo that they are supposed to be neutral, or maybe it is just my jw?

We do sound like a cult
by notalone in"we do sound like a cult..." so in the last few conversations i have had with my still deeply in friend she has mentioned this a couple times when lamenting things that don't seem right.
she has a relative that left and is telling everyone jw's are a cult.
she is very defensive and deeply disturbed by this accusation.

I agree with AudeSapere that the use of 'cult' is more palatable to jw's. It is the politically correct usage I guess. When speaking with a jw they may accept 'high control' better but if speaking with non jw's about the org I ALWAYS use the word 'cult'.

I asked my jw the following as well, "Why do they leave if it's the truth?" he says it is because they don't want live by rules and have someone in authority over them. Basically they want to go out and become sinners, sex, drugs and rock & roll kind of lifestyle. They think they can live their life however they want.
Yeah I know, I'm sitting here shaking my head too.
Ask a jw if they are a sinner, listen to them spin that one!

My last talk
by Normalfulla inso i was recalling my last talk , it was something to do with finding jehovah's treasures or something anyhow in my prep i decided to google "real life treasure maps " and i came across the copper scroll which was found with the dead sea scrolls https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/copper_scroll and i described the real life treasure map etc and of course likened it to the bible as if it were a treasure map to life (duh) anyway afterwards an elder present at my talk said "i wouldn't believe everything u read on the internet" .
i was totally pissed off by his comments as though if it didn't come from a wt publication it can't be trusted as true , this was before i woke up but i was so incensed by his comments it messed with me that he would doubt my research and then ..... i woke up but that wasn't what did it just an.event along the way.

My jw used to like to say, " I wouldn't believe everything u read on the internet" as well. He stopped or reduced his reciting of this comment when I replied, "you are right! YOU shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet either!" He knew/knows full well I mean the wt website. Karma.

Fatherless Boys
by JW_Rogue inthe wt teaches that "fatherless boys" need special care and attention in the congregation.
however, as brought out at the rc their definition of "fatherless boys" includes boys that have actual fathers who maybe very well qualified to teach and raise their sons.
according to wt, if either of your parents aren't jws then you are a "fatherless boy.

How ironic! when my jw first joined up my kids felt they had become fatherless! I also felt like I had become practically a single mother. I knew divorced men with only partial custody that spent more time with their children. Back then they still had the 2 meetings during the week, he was gone every week night but 2. Tues was a meeting night, Wed his bs study, Thurs another meeting, Sat morning fs, Sunday 4 mind numbing hours again. That left Friday night which they also tried to take until I put a quick stop to that one and Monday night was free. By then we were so disgusted by him we didn't care if he was around or not.
Things have since improved but the kids still hold some resentment. Can't imagine what how things will go if grandchildren come. My guess will be that they will never leave kids alone with grandpa or maybe be honest and tell them grandpa is in a cult don't listen to his religious nonsense. Time will tell.
