(page 6) with the nice subject of harmageddon.. well, one paragraph is about "how can a loving god make war?
Apparently the Watchtower writers do not study the history of the earth. There have been many mass extiction events in the past 500 million years. Over 95% of the species that ever existed are now extinct. One could argue that G-d does some regular pruning on this planet. Perhaps those T-rex guys got a little too cocky- 'poof'- lets start over again. Those Neanderthals just didn't worship Him enough, either-hmm-Maybe the Earth is just like a big lump of Play Dough to G-d.

van amburgh was a director for the watch tower society after the purge of 1917, was charged, tried, found guilty of sedition by the united states government, and sentenced to 80 years in federal prison along with rutherford and the other members of the board of directors.
I have one of his books,too. I used to keep it by the door and show to JW's. I had them read a page where it says that after 1926 there would be no need of undertakers as people would no longer be dying. It always got them chocked up.

what we need to come up with is something like crazies 586/7 list from watchtower sources showing the kings list.
then next time they have a prophecy watchtower study we could all go to different halls where no one would know us and have a prepared answer typed up with watchtowerese language something like;.
I stood up in a KH Watchtower study in 1989 and told them something they didn't like either. I wouldn't shut up, so a bunch of the brothers pushed me out of the KH. I still remember the shocked looks on their faces. Imagine- somebody had the nerve to tell them what he was really thinking about this Watchtower gobbledygook!

i will no longer feel guilty about following my own conscience......
if i want to donate to a needy child's christmas fund, i will not feel guilty....
i will give presents to my family when i feel motivated - guilt free......
I will not feel guilty about JW's wasting their family time on useless KH activities- preaching, book-Watchtower studies, prerparing for talks, vacation time wasted on assemblies,etc I told a JW when our job ended up at work in Sept. " betcha can't wait to be a fulltime Watchtower salesman!" I did not get a happy look from him.

i was actually baptized in my early 20's, so i spent some time as a teen and early twenties doing things that were not witness-like.
one of those things was sex out of marriage and to be honest, i have no regrets.
i have wondered though sometimes, where is that person i shared such a landmark moment with in life.
No idea, Her name I remember- the next 500 I'm a little hazy. - Seriously, I never thought about it until tonight. I doubt, other than my 2 ex's , that I could find any of them .

i just wondered how anyone could spend his entire life being duped by the watchtower propaganda.
i left so many tracts at his kh in 1989-90, that they posted a guard in the parking lot to keep me from hand billing the cars.

In fact I remember now going to his home on a book study evening and placing my tracts on every car and his door,too. I always put the tracts inside the gasoline cap door, if possible. That way they found it later when no other JW's were watching. Do you feel sorry for him?

hey gang, i have been searching for a way to dent my hubby's mindset on the theology of jws and came across two books by randy watters that i wondered if any of you had found useful.
"refuting jws" and "the truth will set you free".
if any of you have read these i'd appreciate some feedback from you before ordering them.
I agree with Gary. JW's get some emotional need met by their membership. Elder by night and common carpet cleaner guy by day- take away the elder power and we have a mentally lost laborer. JW's were in many cases societal misfits until the Watchtower gave them an ego power trip. They are a type of drug addict and will go into withdrawal without a weekly boost of Watchtower/KH brain stimulants. Since my children have been out for 10 yrs I have had no need to make any JW go "cold turkey" and quit. I remember in 1973 we were building a new KH and to meet a deadline the Elders suspended our WT studies. ( we had to move out of the old building before the new hall was finished) It was the happiest 6 weeks we had- it was a real drag when the old meeting routine started up again.

what questions should a study ask before joining the jw org?
Are you happy? Do you wish you had ever done anything with your life- college, careers, etc
Will you get in trouble for disagreeing with the Elders? Will I get in trouble for talking to a former member?

given that so many practises associated with christmas are blatantly christian in origin, is christmas truly for jews?
i know that often there are few christian connotations attributed to it nowadays, in such a zionist society, but history is on record in showing that the whole baby jesus / messiah thing is definitely a christian element.
would any true jew (orthodox or otherwise) today want to drink such a mixed cup, perhaps by even combining it with hanukah?
My sister sent us a Happy Hanukkah card- she's a Christian- we send her family a " have a Happy Christmas" card. We can wish each other a happy holiday, even if it's not the one we celebrate personally. It's too bad that Jehovah's Witnesses can't be a little more understanding of different faiths.

i need some help from christians that believe in science and the bible.
i have been debating my college science professor.
he feels that the bible contradicts itself and also feels that science proves the bible to be full of errors.
It would be impossible to build an ark out of only wood, with 6000 yr old technology of size `indicated in the Bible. There is plenty of evidence to prove a global flood never happened- ice core borings have been drilled way over 250,000 yrs in several places - Greenland, Russia, Antarctica. For some reason a flood of 40 days didn't melt all this ice? Right- keep those dark glasses on if it makes you feel better..
