reading Proclaimers book
by MerryMagdalene ina very loyal and loving jw requested that i read the book jehovah's witnesses proclaimers of god's kingdom, sincerely confident that it will lay to rest all my objections and convince me this is indeed god's organization to which i must return right away.. ok, i will read it, but only because it's my mother that asked it of me, and she has tried so hard to be tolerant and understanding of where i am coming from as regards my firm stand in not returning.. i thought i would post my notes along the way in case they would be useful to someone else, and if anyone wants to add their own thoughts and notes i would be grateful.
chapter 1--why should jehovah have witnesses?.
since all references to such in the bible are pre-christian and refer to israelites being witnesses that their god, yhwh, is the god, the one god, the only god, and in a contractual relationship with them.

Sanctuary Trauma
by MerryMagdalene inin a post by ingenous on another thread (scandal frenzy, i think) some quotes are posted about "sanctuary trauma.
" it hit me in kind of a big(-ish) way...being hurt by those who should be protecting or nurturing us is a betrayal of sanctuary.
the trauma experienced is called sanctuary trauma.

SUFFERING IN SILENCE
by MerryMagdalene inhow many of you tend to suffer through your heartaches, worries, illnesses, or anything else that gets you down----alone----while wishing that you could reach out for a little reassurance, validation, affection like you see "others" do???.
i only ask because ever since i was a kid that has been my tendency and, even though i am not suffering anything right now, i can't help but think of those who are.. why do we do it?
are we afraid of what people will think of us?

Do as we do, not as we say?
by MerryMagdalene inis this just one more example of the wts preaching one thing but practicing another?.
sound, reasonable loving advice is currently being presented on their official website in regard to "your role as a parent".
but how can the average jw take this into consideration----experts believe that overscheduling children with countless adult-led activities could stifle their imagination and creativity.

He Said WHAT?!?
by MerryMagdalene inin millions now living will never die, rutherford, 2nd president of the wtbts, had this to say in regard to clergy and religion:
appeal to the clergyit is not my thought to hold up the clergy to ridicule, but rather would i appeal to them that they fulfil their duty and obligation to the people in this hour of distress.
i would remind them that the commission given to all followers of jesus is not to convert the world and bring them into some organized system.

We touch each other...
by MerryMagdalene in.
...in so many ways, some known to us, others remaining unknown and unrecognised, sometimes for years, sometimes forever.. so, my question is: would you rather know of the ways in which your presence effects others or would you prefer such things not be drawn to your attention?
recognition or anonymity?.
